What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to create and maintain a set of plain-text project documents in a conductor/ folder: product.md, tech-stack.md, workflow.md and tracks.md. These documents record what the project is, what technologies it uses, how work should be done, and what work is in progress. Once installed, the agent can scaffold these files for a new project, read an existing codebase to draft them, check them for consistency before coding, and update them as the project changes.
Great for
- Developers starting a new project who want AI assistants to follow consistent conventions from the first session
- Teams onboarding to an existing codebase that need shared, written context for AI-assisted work
- Anyone already using the Conductor workflow who wants help maintaining its context files
Skip it if
- Quick one-off scripts or small edits, where the overhead of maintaining project documents adds little value
- Projects that do not use the Conductor structure, since the skill assumes its own file layout and conventions
- Teams expecting the documents to stay accurate without review: the agent may draft or update them from code it reads, so errors can persist if nobody checks them
Try asking
- “Set up a new project with Conductor and create product.md and tech-stack.md for it”
- “Read this existing codebase and draft context documents describing its product and stack”
- “Check that my conductor/ files are consistent with each other before I start the next feature”
- “Update tracks.md to reflect the work units we finished this week”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip context-driven-development.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip context-driven-development.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review every generated or updated conductor/ file before committing, since the agent writes them from its reading of your project
- Commit context changes alongside code changes so the documents stay in step with the code and git history
- Ask the agent to validate consistency before major work, and keep the documents short and actionable
