What it does
Once installed, the agent can investigate what a Google Cloud project spends on Cloud Logging: which services, log streams and severities generate the most log volume and cost, and which log sinks route them. It can reconcile billing export costs with volume metrics and produce a FinOps report with charts and copy-paste log exclusion filters. It is designed to ask the user a few questions first and to make changes only with approval.
Great for
- Cloud engineers or FinOps staff reducing a Google Cloud logging bill
- Teams that want a scheduled, read-only audit of logging waste with a written report
Skip it if
- Writing or running log queries for debugging (the skill says to use a different skill for that)
- Anyone who cannot review commands before they run, since the skill executes Python scripts and gcloud commands against a live project and may enable APIs or upgrade log buckets with approval
Try asking
- “Audit the Cloud Logging costs for my project my-prod-project and tell me the top contributors”
- “Generate a FinOps report with exclusion filters to reduce our log spend”
- “Find logging waste in the active gcloud project and suggest sink exclusions”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Point the audit at a known billing export table with --billing-table to avoid slow searches across the whole billing account
- Review every exclusion filter before applying it, since excluding logs is irreversible for those entries and may remove audit data
- Use a read-only identity with viewer roles when running the audit to limit what the scripts can access
