What it does
When you ask which database to use on Google Cloud, the agent asks a few questions about your data, workload, scale and any migration plans, then compares your answers against a built-in recommendation matrix and suggests one service with its reasoning. If you decide to proceed, it drafts Terraform or gcloud configuration files for you to review, but it is designed not to run live changes to your cloud account itself.
Great for
- Developers choosing a database for a new Google Cloud project
- Teams who want a structured checklist before committing to a database service
- People new to Google Cloud who need a plain-English recommendation
Skip it if
- Managing or changing existing databases, since the skill says it is not for general maintenance or migrations (the agent may still be unreliable on live systems)
- Final production decisions without expert review, because the recommendation comes from a simplified matrix
- Users without Google Cloud familiarity who would struggle to review the drafted gcloud or Terraform code
Try asking
- “Help me pick a database for a multi-region e-commerce app with high write volume”
- “What database service should I use for a time-series IoT data store?”
- “Draft Terraform for a new Cloud SQL instance in europe-west1 for my project”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Answer the discovery questions with concrete numbers (data size, requests per second) for a better recommendation
- Review every drafted gcloud or Terraform file yourself before running it, since the skill leaves execution to you
- Check the recommendation against Google's official database documentation before committing
