What it does

When this skill is installed, the agent gets a reference of ClickHouse-specific patterns: choosing table engines such as MergeTree, ReplacingMergeTree and AggregatingMergeTree, writing faster filtered and aggregated queries, batching inserts instead of inserting row by row, and building materialized views for real-time summaries. It also includes ready-made SQL for monitoring slow queries, table sizes, retention, funnels and cohorts. The skill is documentation-style guidance written in Japanese; it does not run anything by itself.

Great for

  • Engineers designing tables and queries for ClickHouse analytics workloads
  • Data engineers building event or trade pipelines that need batched ingestion
  • Analysts who want a reference for ClickHouse-specific aggregate functions like uniq and quantile

Skip it if

  • Teams using a different database such as PostgreSQL or BigQuery, since the SQL is ClickHouse-specific
  • Anyone expecting the agent to connect to and modify a live database on its own; the file only contains examples and does not run them
  • Production use without review, because the examples (such as SELECT * and a sample insert loop marked as bad) are illustrative and may need tuning for real schemas

Try asking

  • “Design a ClickHouse MergeTree table for hourly trade data partitioned by month”
  • “Review this slow ClickHouse query and suggest filter ordering and aggregate functions”
  • “Write a TypeScript bulk insert function for ClickHouse using @clickhouse/client”
  • “Show me SQL to compute daily active users and retention from an events table in ClickHouse”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    clickhouse-io.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip clickhouse-io.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip clickhouse-io.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent your real table schema and query volume so it can check the ORDER BY and partition advice against your data
  • Test suggested SQL on a staging ClickHouse instance before running it against production
  • Ask for the reasoning behind each recommendation so you can judge whether it fits your workload
