What it does

When installed, the agent can pull usage, performance, error and follow-up signals from the product's configured sources (analytics, tracing, optionally a read-only database) for a chosen time window such as the last 24 hours or 7 days. It saves a compact report of roughly 30-40 lines to a pulse-reports folder in the repository and summarises the headlines in chat. It is designed to present numbers without judging them as good or bad, and it avoids putting personal data in the saved file.

Great for

  • Product or founding engineers who want a daily or weekly snapshot of how the product is doing
  • Small teams that already use analytics or tracing tools and want one consolidated read
  • Anyone who wants a dated timeline of past product pulses saved in the repo

Skip it if

  • Teams needing deep investigation or live alerting, since the skill explicitly does no alerting and defers to native tools (reason: it is a single-page summary, not a dashboard)
  • Setups where the data sources are not configured, because the report depends on them (reason: it cannot produce useful numbers without connected sources)
  • Use with read-write database credentials, which the skill is designed to refuse (reason: a write-capable connection would break its read-only promise)

Try asking

  • “Run a product pulse for the last 24 hours”
  • “Give me a 7d product pulse report and the top followup”
  • “Generate a 1h pulse for our launch today”
  • “Reconfigure the pulse settings and data sources”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Product Pulse ReportsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 7 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    ce-product-pulse.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ce-product-pulse.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip ce-product-pulse.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run the first-run interview so pulse_product_name and data sources are set before the first real report
  • Use a read-only database connection or skip database access entirely, since many products are covered by analytics and tracing alone
  • Check the saved report in pulse-reports/ before sharing it, and confirm the scheduling offer only if you want recurring runs
