What it does
This skill gives the agent a reference for Bun, a fast all-in-one JavaScript and TypeScript toolkit that bundles a runtime, package manager, bundler and test runner. Once installed, the agent can advise when Bun or Node is the better choice, suggest commands such as bun install, bun run and bun test, and help move a Node project to Bun, including Vercel deployment settings. It also points to built-in Bun APIs before adding extra dependencies. The skill is text guidance only and does not itself run any code.
Great for
- Developers starting a new JavaScript or TypeScript project who want one toolchain
- Teams migrating an existing Node.js project to Bun and checking compatibility
- Engineers configuring Bun on Vercel or setting up CI test options
Skip it if
- Projects that depend on native Node addons or obscure Node internals, which may not work under Bun without testing
- Security-sensitive dependency decisions: the skill's audit and fix guidance is advisory, and bun audit fix changes lockfiles and installed packages, so it should be reviewed rather than run blindly
Try asking
- “Should I use Bun or Node for this new TypeScript API project?”
- “Help me migrate this npm-based project to Bun and update the scripts.”
- “Set up bun test with parallel execution and sharding in our CI pipeline.”
- “Configure Bun for deployment on Vercel with a frozen lockfile install.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run bun --version first, because CLI flags can change between Bun releases.
- Review bun audit fix changes and install lifecycle scripts before accepting them, and check that private package data is only sent to approved registries.
- Commit bun.lock for reproducible installs and test native-addon dependencies before relying on them in production.
