Build Analytical Report

Turns analysis into a durable, answer-first report with evidence, charts, caveats and sources.

What it does

When installed, the agent structures a finished analysis as a durable report: it leads with the main answer and decision implication, then lays out evidence-backed findings, caveats, recommendations and a sources section. It picks a delivery format (Markdown by default, or HTML, PDF, DOCX or slides when requested) and checks its own headline numbers and charts before handing back the file. A companion report-to-Google-Doc helper converts an HTML report into a DOCX for Google Drive upload, but it does not call Google APIs itself.

Great for

  • Analysts who need to turn query results into a report a manager can act on
  • Teams producing recurring written findings for stakeholders
  • Anyone who wants reports that separate verified facts from assumptions

Skip it if

  • Quick one-line answers, since the workflow is designed for durable deliverables (the skill itself says to answer briefly in chat when no file is wanted)
  • Situations needing guaranteed source provenance the agent cannot access, because the skill forbids inventing sources but cannot verify them for you

Try asking

  • “Build a report on last quarter's churn drivers for the leadership team, as a Markdown file”
  • “Turn this sales analysis into an HTML report with charts and recommendations”
  • “Make a DOCX version of this report and prepare it for upload to Google Drive”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Build Analytical ReportInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    build-report.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip build-report.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip build-report.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • State the audience, decision and date range up front so the agent does not need to ask follow-up questions
  • Ask for a specific format; otherwise the agent defaults to Markdown
  • Review the Sources section and confirm the provenance before sharing the report
