What it does

Once installed, the agent acts as a patient tutor for the AI Engineering from Scratch projects. It reads the lesson for one stage, asks you a prediction question, points you to starter files you fill in yourself, runs the stage's grader with you, and gives graduated hints when tests fail. It also keeps a PROJECTS-LEARNING.md progress file in your working folder so you can resume later.

Great for

  • Learners working through the AI Engineering from Scratch course who want guided practice
  • Self-taught developers who want to write the code themselves with step-by-step hints
  • Anyone who wants progress tracking across multiple projects and sessions

Skip it if

  • People who just want a finished project delivered: the skill is designed to withhold full solutions, so it will not hand over complete code by default
  • Users without the repository or Python available: it falls back to conceptual mode with grader results marked Pending, which gives less verification

Try asking

  • “Start the research report agent project from the beginning”
  • “Continue my project with the next stage”
  • “Build a project and show me the lesson for stage 3”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Build Project TutorInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    build-project.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip build-project.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip build-project.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Say which project you want by name, for example 'start the research report agent', so the tutor does not have to ask
  • Attempt each stage honestly before asking for a reference; the tutor only reveals one function after at least two attempts
  • Keep PROJECTS-LEARNING.md in the folder you work from so progress is preserved between sessions
