What it does

When you ask for a plan for a large, multi-PR or multi-session engineering project, the agent breaks the goal into roughly 3 to 12 PR-sized steps with dependencies, parallel-work notes, rollback strategy and verification commands. Each step includes a self-contained context brief so a fresh agent can pick it up without reading earlier steps. The plan is written as a markdown file in a plans/ folder, reviewed adversarially by a stronger model subagent against a checklist, and then saved.

Great for

  • Engineers planning a large feature, migration or refactor that spans several PRs
  • Teams coordinating multiple agents or subagents working in parallel
  • Anyone who loses context between sessions and wants resumable, self-contained steps

Skip it if

  • Small changes that fit in a single PR or fewer than three tool calls, where the planning overhead is not worth it
  • Users who just want the task done immediately, since the skill itself says to skip planning in that case
  • Projects without git and GitHub CLI, which the skill handles in a reduced direct mode rather than the full branch/PR/CI workflow

Try asking

  • “/blueprint myapp "migrate the database to PostgreSQL"”
  • “Create a multi-session roadmap for splitting our monolith into services”
  • “Write a blueprint for rewriting the authentication layer over several PRs”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    blueprint.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip blueprint.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip blueprint.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • State the goal in one clear sentence and name the project so the plan file gets a sensible name
  • Expect the agent to run preflight checks on git, gh auth, remote and default branch, so have the repo in a clean state first
  • Review the generated plan before executing steps, especially the rollback strategy and model-tier assignments
