What it does

When installed, the agent can measure how fast a website, API, or build runs and save those numbers as a baseline. After you change code, it runs the same measurements again and produces a before/after table marking each metric as better or worse. It is aimed at catching slowdowns before they ship, and the skill describes using a browser tool for real page measurements.

Great for

  • Developers who want to catch performance regressions in pull requests
  • Teams setting performance targets before a product launch
  • Developers comparing a web stack against alternatives

Skip it if

  • Non-technical users who only need a quick page speed score, since it assumes familiarity with metrics like p95 latency and LCP and with a browser tool being available
  • Projects where load tests against live production APIs are not authorised, because the API mode sends 100 requests per endpoint plus 10 concurrent requests

Try asking

  • “Set a performance baseline for my site before I make changes”
  • “Compare current performance against the saved baseline and show me the table”
  • “Benchmark the API endpoints in this project and check p95 latency against our SLA”
  • “Measure how long our cold build, hot reload and test suite take”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Performance BenchmarkInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    benchmark.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip benchmark.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip benchmark.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Save a baseline on the same machine and network conditions before making changes so comparisons are fair
  • Set your own SLA and performance targets in the prompt, since the skill's example thresholds may not match your project
  • Only run API load tests against endpoints you own or are permitted to test
