What it is
Web UI is a browser-based control panel for the browser-use project, which lets AI agents operate a web browser to complete tasks on websites. You configure an LLM provider and browser settings in a web page, then give the agent a task and watch it work. It is built on Gradio and supports most browser-use functionality.
- Give an agent a multi-step web task and watch each action in the browser window
- Reuse your existing Chrome login state so the agent does not need to sign in again
- Record high-definition screen video of agent sessions
- Keep the browser open between tasks to review the history of prior interactions
Great for
- People who want to try browser-automation AI agents without writing code
- Developers experimenting with different LLM providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama
- Users who want the agent to use their own logged-in Chrome profile
- Anyone who wants to watch agent sessions through a VNC viewer in Docker
Not ideal for
- Production systems needing hardened, audited automation, since the README describes it as a UI layer and gives no production guidance
- People without an API key or a local model setup, because the agent needs an LLM to run
- Users who need a fully hands-off, no-configuration tool, since setup involves editing a .env file
How to get it
- 1
Clone and build from source
You'll need: Python 3.11 (uv recommended for environment setup) · Playwright browsers (installed via the setup commands) · An API key for an LLM provider, or a local Ollama setup · Docker and Docker Compose (only for the Docker option)
Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/browser-use/web-ui.gitCreate the Python environment
uv venv --python 3.11Install Python dependencies
uv pip install -r requirements.txtInstall Playwright browsers
playwright install --with-deps - 2
Run it
- Copy .env.example to .env and add your API keys
- Start the server with python webui.py --ip 127.0.0.1 --port 7788
- Open http://127.0.0.1:7788 in your web browser
- Enter a task for the agent in the interface and run it

Get the most out of it
- Set BROWSER_PATH and BROWSER_USER_DATA in .env to use your own Chrome profile, then enable 'Use Own Browser' in Browser Settings
- Use the Persistent Browser Sessions option to keep the browser open and review task history
- Use the Docker option and open the VNC viewer at port 6080 to watch the browser live
- Set VNC_PASSWORD in .env to change the default VNC password
- For ARM64 machines such as Apple Silicon, prefix the Docker command with TARGETPLATFORM=linux/arm64

Strengths
- Provides a graphical interface on top of browser-use, so no code is needed to start
- Supports multiple LLM providers, including Google, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, and Ollama
- Offers Docker setup with a VNC viewer for watching the browser
Trade-offs
- The README is truncated and gives limited detail on configuration options beyond the basics
- Using your own browser requires closing all Chrome windows and a specific workflow, which can be fiddly
- Agent results depend on the chosen LLM and the README does not evaluate reliability
