How to use brag: make a launch video from your project

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

brag is an open-source agent skill that turns the project you just created into a short, shareable launch video. It is aimed at developers and makers who want a quick promo clip without editing video by hand. This guide shows you how to install it, run it inside a project, change the tone, and find what it produces.

Quick start

  1. 1Check prerequisites. Confirm Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg on your PATH are installed, and that your agent supports Agent Skills.
  2. 2Verify Hyperframes. Run the Hyperframes doctor command to confirm the video renderer is set up.
  3. 3Install the skill. Add the marketplace and install the plugin in Claude Code, or use the skills CLI for other agents.
  4. 4Open your project. Change into the project directory you want to promote.
  5. 5Run brag. Ask your agent to run /brag, optionally adding --tone or --voice.
  6. 6Review brag-output. Open the brag-output folder and check the plan, share copy and brag.mp4 before sharing.

Check the requirements before you install

brag needs an agent that supports Agent Skills, such as Claude Code, opencode or Codex CLI. It also needs Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg available on your PATH.

The video is rendered by the Hyperframes tool, so you should confirm that setup works before your first run.

  • An agent that supports Agent Skills, for example Claude Code
  • Node.js 22+
  • FFmpeg on PATH
  • Hyperframes CLI, run through npx hyperframes
npx hyperframes doctor

Install brag in Claude Code

In Claude Code, add the marketplace and then install the plugin. The plugin also includes /brag-slim.

For other agents, the skills CLI installs the skill with one command. Add -g to install it globally for every project, or leave it out to scope it to the current one.

  • Add -g to the skills command to install globally; omit it to scope to the current project
/plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag /plugin install brag@brag npx skills add https://github.com/latent-spaces/brag --skill brag

Run /brag inside your project

Open your agent in the project directory you want to promote and ask it to run brag. The skill reads the project, decides the story, tone and which moments to show, then passes a focused brief to Hyperframes to build and render the video.

Voiceover is off by default. You can turn it on explicitly, and narration uses Kokoro through Hyperframes when enabled.

  • Run from any project directory
  • Voiceover is off unless you pass --voice
let's /brag /brag --tone "fake Series A launch from 2016" /brag --voice

Find your output in brag-output

When the run finishes, brag writes a brag-output/ folder. It contains the plan, a composition brief, the share copy and the rendered brag.mp4.

The brag project describes the output as a short, playful style. It is not a tailored brand production, so review the result before you publish it.

  • Plan
  • Composition brief
  • Share copy
  • brag.mp4

Know the limits and the alternative

The workflow is driven by the skill and Hyperframes, so you do not get frame-by-frame manual control. If you want the skill to run without setup, the project points to letsbrag.app, which runs /brag for you by pasting your site's link.

If you are on Claude Opus 5.5, /brag switches to /brag-slim automatically. Run /brag --full to keep the classic Hyperframes workflow.

  • No manual control over every frame
  • Needs Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg
  • Use /brag --full to keep the Hyperframes workflow on Opus 5.5
/brag --full

What people use it for

  • Make a quick promo clip for a side project you just finished
  • Get a playful or stylized launch video with the --tone option
  • Generate share copy alongside a video for a launch post
  • Create a looping demo video for a project homepage

Our verdict

brag suits developers and makers who want a quick, playful promo video for a project they just finished, and who already work in Claude Code, opencode or Codex CLI. Skip it if you need frame-by-frame control, lack Node.js 22+ or FFmpeg, or need a polished brand video for a team.
