About

Clean messy CSV files: trim spaces, drop empty rows and columns, fix ragged rows, normalize headers and strip the BOM, all in your browser.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste CSV or drop a .csv/.tsv file — the delimiter is detected automatically.
  2. 2Tick the clean-up steps you want: trim, collapse spaces, remove empty rows/columns, fix column counts.
  3. 3Optionally convert headers to snake_case, camelCase or Title Case and make duplicates unique.
  4. 4Check the summary of what changed, then download the cleaned CSV or JSON.
You give
CSV, TSV, semicolon- or pipe-separated text (paste or file)
You get
Cleaned CSV or JSON plus a report of every change
Good to know
Encoding is assumed to be UTF-8; files saved in legacy encodings (e.g. Windows-1252) may show odd characters. Files up to roughly 50–100 MB work on a desktop browser (big files are streamed in chunks); phones may run out of memory sooner. The preview shows the first 200 rows, downloads include every row.

FAQ

What does “fix inconsistent column counts” do?

Short rows are padded with empty cells so every row matches the header. Long rows lose only trailing cells that are empty; if a long row has real extra values, an extra_1, extra_2… column is added so no data is thrown away.

Why remove the BOM?

Excel often saves CSVs with an invisible byte-order mark at the start. It ends up glued to the first header name (e.g. "\uFEFFid"), which breaks imports and lookups. The cleaner always strips it.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Parsing and cleaning run in your browser with Papa Parse; the file never leaves your device.
