What it does

This skill tells the AI agent to act as a focused checker. When you ask it to confirm that finished work meets the requirements, it runs the smallest set of checks needed to prove that, reuses earlier results if the code has not changed, and stops as soon as the proof is complete. It is told not to edit product code unless you explicitly ask for fixes, and not to add extra polish or unrelated tests. It then reports which commands were run, what passed or failed, and any remaining risk.

Great for

  • Developers who want a quick completion check before merging or handing work off
  • Teams running a final verification gate on a finished feature
  • People who want the agent to avoid scope creep during validation-only tasks

Skip it if

  • Building or fixing features, since the skill explicitly forbids product code edits unless fixes are requested (the agent would need a different skill)
  • Situations needing broad test coverage, because it deliberately limits checks to what is sufficient to prove the acceptance criteria

Try asking

  • “Verify that the login feature meets the acceptance criteria in our ticket and stop when proven”
  • “Run the focused gate checks for the payment module and tell me what passed, failed, or was blocked”
  • “Do a last-mile proof that the export fix works before we release”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    verify-and-stop.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip verify-and-stop.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip verify-and-stop.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • State the acceptance criteria clearly so the agent knows what proof is required
  • Specify the test or gate commands you expect, since the agent will pick the smallest set itself
  • Ask for fixes explicitly if you want the agent to change code; otherwise it will only report
