What it does
Once installed, the agent knows how to query the U.S. Treasury's public Fiscal Data API for official federal finance figures such as the national debt, daily and monthly government cash statements, Treasury securities auctions, interest rates, foreign exchange reporting rates and savings bond data. It knows the correct endpoints, filter and sort syntax, pagination, and how to read the returned values (for example, values come back as strings and DTS amounts are in millions). It can then write and run short Python or R code to fetch and tabulate these numbers for you.
Great for
- Economists, journalists or students who need current U.S. federal debt or spending figures sourced directly from Treasury
- Analysts building tables or charts of Treasury auctions, interest rates or exchange rates
- Developers who want a working starting point for calling the Fiscal Data API
Skip it if
- Live trading or market decisions: the exchange rates are quarterly government reporting rates, not real-time quotes, and the skill does not provide investment advice
- Anyone needing data outside the Treasury Fiscal Data API; the skill cannot reach other sources and endpoint paths may change, so results should be checked against the dataset's API Quick Guide
Try asking
- “What is the current total national debt according to Debt to the Penny, and how has it changed this year?”
- “Pull the last 12 months of Treasury auction results for 10-year notes into a CSV.”
- “Convert a 5,000 USD amount into Mexican pesos using the latest Treasury reporting rate and show the record date.”
- “Summarise the Daily Treasury Statement operating cash balance for the past month.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Ask for specific datasets by name (e.g. Debt to the Penny, DTS, auctions) so the agent picks the right endpoint quickly.
- Check the record_date and effective_date on exchange rates and verify any figure against the official Fiscal Data site before publishing it.
- Ask the agent to preview full rows before aggregating, because summing the wrong columns can give misleading totals.
