What it does

Once installed, the agent can interpret money moving into and out of US exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as a signal of where large investors are positioning. It explains how creation and redemption of ETF shares reflects demand, groups flows by broad market, sector, style, bond and thematic ETFs, and builds simple breadth and cyclical-versus-defensive indicators from flow data. The skill is written as analytical guidance with example Python logic; it does not itself fetch live market data.

Great for

  • Investors or analysts who want a framework for reading ETF flow data around sector rotation
  • Students learning how ETF creation/redemption and sector breadth work
  • Developers building a flow-monitoring dashboard who want starting formulas and signal rules

Skip it if

  • Making real trading decisions without independent validation: the signal rules are simplified illustrations with hard-coded thresholds, and flows alone do not predict prices
  • Users expecting live data: the file contains example figures and no data source, so the agent needs flow data supplied separately

Try asking

  • “Analyze whether the recent ETF flows point to risk-on or risk-off positioning using SPY and IWM”
  • “Explain what a sector rotation from defensive XLP and XLU into cyclical XLK and XLY would signal”
  • “Compute a sector breadth score from a table of sector ETF flows I paste in”
  • “Describe how thematic flows into AI or semiconductor ETFs like SMH and SOXX differ from price moves”
Step-by-step guide: how to use US ETF Flow AnalysisInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    us-etf-flow.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip us-etf-flow.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip us-etf-flow.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste your own flow and AUM data into the request so the agent computes results rather than quoting the example numbers
  • Treat the thresholds (such as breadth above 0.7 or flow above 2% of AUM) as starting points and test them on historical data before relying on them
  • Ask the agent to note the data date and source so signals are not mistaken for current market conditions
