What it does

Once installed, the agent can compute a set of classic stock and crypto chart indicators on price data you provide (open, high, low, close, volume). It combines trend, mean-reversion and volume measures by simple voting and returns a composite signal: 1 for long, -1 for short, or 0 to stand aside. It is a calculation tool for analysing historical or supplied data, not a trading service.

Great for

  • Quants or traders who want a transparent baseline indicator combination to test or extend
  • Developers building backtests who need pandas-based indicator functions
  • Students learning how EMA, ADX, RSI, Bollinger Bands and OBV are computed

Skip it if

  • Anyone expecting reliable profits: a fixed three-indicator vote has no shown performance evidence in these files and markets change, so following its signals with real money can cause losses
  • Users who need live trading or broker execution: the skill only computes signals and does not place orders
  • Non-financial time series: the indicators are designed for OHLCV price and volume data and may be meaningless elsewhere

Try asking

  • “Compute EMA, ADX, RSI and Bollinger Bands for this CSV of daily BTC prices and tell me where the composite signal flips”
  • “Run the technical-basic signal engine on my OHLCV data with ADX threshold 30 instead of 25”
  • “Explain why OBV is rising but the signal is still 0 for the last 50 bars of this stock”
  • “Add an RSI period parameter sweep to the signal engine and report which values change the signal most”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Technical Indicator Signal EngineInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    technical-basic.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip technical-basic.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip technical-basic.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Supply clean OHLCV data with consistent timestamps and no gaps, since the indicators assume evenly spaced bars
  • Override parameters at instantiation and compare results rather than relying on the defaults
  • Treat outputs as analysis inputs and backtest on out-of-sample data before any real decision
