What it does

This skill gives the agent a short set of writing rules for practical how-to tutorials. Once installed, the agent scopes the topic around the reader's problem, the concrete outcome and the limits of the guide, orders steps in the sequence someone would actually follow, and explains each step's purpose, actions, inputs, outputs and common pitfalls. It favours checklists, tables, examples and verification steps, avoids made-up commands, versions or data, and ends with a checklist the reader can tick off instead of a generic summary.

Great for

  • Writers or teachers producing how-to guides, workshop handouts or onboarding docs
  • Technical writers who want consistent structure across tutorials
  • Anyone who wants an AI draft that is easy to verify step by step

Skip it if

  • Tasks needing verified technical facts: the rules forbid invented commands and versions but do not check them, so the user must still verify against real sources
  • Non-tutorial writing such as opinion pieces, fiction or marketing copy, where these rules do not apply

Try asking

  • “Write a tutorial on setting up a local Python virtual environment for beginners”
  • “Draft a step-by-step guide to exporting a spreadsheet to PDF, with a completion checklist at the end”
  • “Outline a how-to article on backing up a phone, listing inputs, outputs and common risks per step”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    skill.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skill.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent your real commands, versions and sources, since the skill tells it not to invent them
  • Specify the target reader's skill level so the steps are pitched correctly
  • Ask the agent to list what you still need to verify before publishing
