What it does

Once installed, the agent can take a source such as a documentation website, GitHub repo, PDF, video, or local code folder and convert it into a packaged AI skill using the Skill Seekers tool. It works out the source type from the input, runs the scraping and packaging steps, and can optionally export the result to vector databases like Chroma or Qdrant. If the Skill Seekers MCP server is not connected, it falls back to running the skill-seekers command line tool instead.

Great for

  • Developers who want to turn internal or third-party documentation into a skill an agent can reference
  • Teams packaging a codebase or GitHub repo as searchable AI knowledge
  • People who need to feed documentation into a vector database for retrieval

Skip it if

  • Users who only want to read or write documents; this builds skills, it does not edit general content (it scrapes sources, which can take time and capture large volumes of material)
  • Sources you do not have rights to copy: scraping pulls full content from the target, so check licensing and terms of service first
  • Sensitive private repos or internal docs sent through a remote video or URL pipeline without reviewing where data goes

Try asking

  • “Create a skill from https://docs.example.com so my agent can answer questions about that API”
  • “Build a skill from the GitHub repo owner/repo and package it for Claude”
  • “Turn this PDF manual into a skill and export it to Chroma”
  • “Scrape this YouTube tutorial and make a skill from its transcript”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Skill BuilderInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    skill-builder.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skill-builder.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skill-builder.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Estimate scope on documentation sites first (estimate_pages) to avoid scraping far more pages than you need
  • Use --enhance-level 0 or skip enhancement if you want a faster, cheaper build without AI post-processing
  • Check the generated SKILL.md after building and confirm it matches the source before sharing the skill
