What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent how to control a real web browser using the ego-browser command-line tool. Once installed, the agent writes short JavaScript scripts that open pages, read their contents, and interact with them, such as clicking or filling forms. It also explains how to run those scripts correctly across Bash, PowerShell, and cmd, and how to organise work into persistent browser workspaces that survive between steps.

Great for

  • Developers who want an agent to inspect or test a live website
  • Users who need an agent to gather information from pages that require real browser interaction
  • Windows users running ego-browser from PowerShell or cmd who need the shell-specific quoting rules

Skip it if

  • Tasks that need no browser, since the skill adds setup and process overhead for simple fetches
  • Automating sites where you have not authorised the agent, because it drives a real browser that may hold logged-in sessions or personal profiles
  • Anyone who expects standard Playwright commands, since the API is a deliberately smaller custom one and the skill warns against guessing Playwright methods

Try asking

  • “Open example.com in the browser and summarise the main headings on the page”
  • “Check whether the checkout form on my staging site loads without errors”
  • “Navigate to the releases page and list the version numbers shown there”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    skill-body.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skill-body.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skill-body.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Ask the agent to name the browser task explicitly so it starts with a real browser command rather than debugging the installation
  • On Windows PowerShell, have the agent write scripts to a UTF-8 .mjs file rather than passing them inline, to avoid quoting and encoding corruption
  • Keep one goal in one task space and ask the agent to print its spaceId so later steps can resume it
