What it does

Once installed, the agent follows a structured checklist to audit a website's technical SEO: whether search engines can crawl and index its pages, how it handles duplicate and thin content, security headers and HTTPS, mobile use, Core Web Vitals, rendering and structured data. It can run a bundled sitemap discovery script against a URL and reports findings by category, including notes on how AI crawlers are managed in robots.txt. It does not cover content strategy or backlinks.

Great for

  • SEO specialists who want a repeatable technical audit of a site
  • Website owners or developers checking why pages are not being indexed or are loading slowly
  • Marketers deciding how robots.txt should treat AI training and search crawlers

Skip it if

  • Content strategy, keyword research or backlink work, which the skill explicitly excludes (the wrong tool for those tasks)
  • Authoritative legal or compliance advice on AI crawler blocking, since the skill gives guidance that depends on each vendor's documented behaviour and those documents change
  • Auditing sites you do not own or have permission to test, since it fetches and inspects live URLs

Try asking

  • “Run a technical SEO audit on https://example.com and list the top crawlability problems”
  • “Check whether my robots.txt and sitemap are set up correctly for indexing”
  • “Review my site's security headers and HTTPS setup for SEO impact”
  • “Explain which AI crawlers my robots.txt blocks and what each block actually affects”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Technical SEO AuditInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    seo-technical.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip seo-technical.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip seo-technical.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the target URL as the argument so the agent can run the sitemap check directly
  • Ask for findings grouped by category and prioritised by impact, then verify fixes against a staging copy before deploying
  • Treat AI crawler advice as a business decision: blocking an AI search crawler removes your site from that engine's answers
