What it does

This skill lets an AI agent act like version control for a web page's SEO. You save a 'known good' snapshot of key elements (title, meta description, canonical URL, robots directives, headings, structured data, Open Graph tags, Core Web Vitals, HTTP status), then later compare the live page to that snapshot. The agent reports changes ranked as critical, warning, or info, and suggests which deeper SEO check to run next. Data is stored locally in a SQLite database.

Great for

  • SEO managers checking that a site deployment did not break titles, canonicals, or schema
  • Developers who want an automated 'did anything break?' check after releases
  • Agencies tracking client pages over time

Skip it if

  • Full SEO audits or keyword research, since it only tracks changes against a baseline and does not evaluate overall quality (the skill itself points to other skills for that)
  • Sites you do not own or have permission to fetch repeatedly, since it sends requests to the target URL and may call a PageSpeed API

Try asking

  • “Capture a baseline of https://example.com/pricing before our release”
  • “Did anything break on the homepage since yesterday? Compare it to the baseline”
  • “Show the change history for https://example.com/blog/post-1”
  • “Run a deployment check on our product pages and summarize critical SEO regressions”

    seo-drift.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip seo-drift.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip seo-drift.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Capture a baseline right after a known-good deployment so comparisons reflect real regressions
  • Use --skip-cwv for faster runs or when no PageSpeed API key is configured
  • Review CRITICAL findings first; INFO findings may be intentional changes
