What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent when and how to use REA, a reverse-engineering toolkit, to examine software that has already been shipped, such as compiled native programs, Android APKs, Electron/JavaScript apps, .NET assemblies, firmware images and browser targets. It tells the agent to pick the right REA tool for the target, read the returned evidence carefully, and report what is actually established versus unknown. It also covers recovering from connection problems with the REA server and building web application environment bundles from a live instance or capture.
Great for
- Developers investigating how a compiled binary, mobile app or Electron app behaves without access to its source code
- Security researchers who need evidence-backed explanations of shipped software
- Engineers comparing behavior between versions of a packaged application
Skip it if
- Analysing a complete source repository, where normal repository tools are more appropriate and the skill says not to run REA
- Analysing software you do not have authorization to inspect, since decompiling or probing targets can breach licences or law
- Users expecting it to work out of the box: REA needs its own MCP server, engines like Ghidra or JADX, and possibly Binwalk or Unblob installed separately
Try asking
- “Explain what features this Android APK implements by inspecting its classes and methods”
- “Compare the packaged Electron app in this folder against the previous version's JavaScript tree”
- “Decompile this native binary and summarise its exported functions with evidence”
- “Inspect the firmware image I provide and list its extractable regions”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip reverse-engineer-anything.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip reverse-engineer-anything.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Install the REA MCP server and confirm its tool list before asking for analysis, since the skill itself only supplies instructions
- Give the agent the absolute local path of the artifact and state the question you want answered
- Ask the agent to separate established evidence from unknowns and to cite the tool output it relied on
