What it does
Pi is a minimal coding agent that runs in the terminal. With this skill installed, the agent knows Pi's setup steps, settings, model and provider configuration, environment variables, and how to build extensions, packages, SDK or RPC integrations, and local llama.cpp models. It points the agent to the right reference file for each task instead of guessing from memory.
Great for
- Developers who want to install and configure the Pi coding agent
- Engineers embedding Pi in a Node/TypeScript app or driving it from another language via RPC or JSON output
- Builders writing custom Pi extensions, providers, or packages
Skip it if
- People who only want a general coding assistant and have no interest in Pi (the skill adds little outside that tool)
- Running untrusted repositories or unattended automation without isolation, because Pi is not sandboxed by default and extensions run with the process's permissions
Try asking
- “Install Pi globally and set up Anthropic credentials without storing keys in project files”
- “Write a Pi extension that adds a custom tool and a command handler”
- “Integrate Pi over RPC from a Python script using JSONL event streams”
- “Set up a local model through the llama.cpp router”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pi-agent.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pi-agent.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Install with --ignore-scripts as shown in the skill, and review any packages before installing them with pi install
- Keep API keys in environment variables or ~/.pi/agent/auth.json rather than project files
- For untrusted code, run Pi inside Docker or a VM, since project trust only controls which project inputs load
