What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent a workflow for security research on software updates. It takes the 'before' and 'after' versions of a binary (such as a Windows or Linux patch), compares them function by function with diff tools like BinDiff or ghidriff, and uses the newly added checks to infer what bug class was fixed. The agent is then guided to write a proof-of-concept that triggers the bug on the unpatched version. The skill also contains a bootstrap section for installing the diff tools when they are missing.
Great for
- Authorized security researchers and red teams studying known N-day vulnerabilities
- Penetration testers on in-scope assets during bug bounty or SRC engagements
- Defenders who want to understand how a patched vulnerability works in order to verify their own systems
Skip it if
- Attacking production systems or any target without written authorization, since weaponizing an N-day against live systems is illegal intrusion
- Building full exploit chains or deploying attacks across networks, which the skill itself routes to other skills
- Beginners with no reverse engineering background, because the workflow assumes familiarity with IDA/Ghidra and binary analysis
Try asking
- “Analyze the November Patch Tuesday update for a Windows kernel CVE and help me build a PoC to confirm the unpatched build crashes”
- “Diff the patched and unpatched versions of this Linux kernel package and identify the missing bounds check”
- “Explain what the new lock and refcount checks in this patched function suggest about the underlying bug class”

Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip patch-diff-exploit.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip patch-diff-exploit.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Confirm written authorization and scope before any analysis that leads to a working exploit; the SKILL.md itself says unauthorized use equals intrusion
- Validate that the PoC crashes the unpatched build and not the patched one, and check that crashes are not caused by environment differences
- Review the referenced ACTION REQUIRED steps, which point to files outside this skill folder (../field-journal, ../tool-index) that were not included in this review
