What it does
OpenCLI is a tool that lets an AI agent run commands against websites through a browser. When one of these site commands breaks (for example because the website changed its layout or data format), this skill tells the agent how to investigate: collect a trace log, inspect the live site, edit the small adapter file responsible, and retry. It also sets hard stops, such as not editing code when the problem is a login or browser connection issue, and limits the agent to a maximum of three repair attempts.
Great for
- Developers who maintain OpenCLI site adapters and want faster repairs when sites change
- Teams running OpenCLI commands regularly that break after website updates
Skip it if
- Users who just need a one-off result: the skill is about editing adapter code, which is unnecessary if the command works after logging in or retrying
- Situations involving CAPTCHAs, rate limits or login problems, which the skill itself says must stop the repair and be handled manually
- Anyone uncomfortable with an agent editing local code files automatically, since it changes adapter source and may file GitHub issues
Try asking
- “My opencli xiaohongshu search command returns SELECTOR errors after the site redesign. Diagnose and fix the adapter.”
- “The opencli example/search command returned EMPTY_RESULT. Collect the trace and repair the adapter if the failure is reproducible.”
- “Retry the failing opencli command after patching and file an upstream GitHub issue if the fix is verified.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run opencli doctor first to confirm the extension and daemon are connected before starting a repair.
- Review the diff the agent makes to the adapter file before accepting it, and confirm the fix is genuinely needed rather than a transient empty result.
- Only the adapter file at adapterSourcePath should change; check that no src/, tests/ or package files were touched.
