What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to run software work inside the OpenRig multi-agent system using its lightweight development process. It tells the agent to resolve the current mission and slice, keep SPEC, PROGRESS, PROOF and NOTES files current, record what was actually verified by running the product, and pass work to the next agent with handoff commands so nothing is dropped during compaction or restore. It also stresses keeping this paperwork proportional, so the actual product gets built first.
Great for
- Developers already using OpenRig to coordinate several AI agents on a shared project
- Teams that want a consistent handoff and proof-recording routine for AI-built features
- Agents resuming work after context compaction or a seat handover
Skip it if
- Anyone not using the OpenRig rig/queue tooling: the commands it depends on (rig whoami, rig scope, rig queue) will not exist and the instructions will not apply
- Solo quick tasks where the process overhead outweighs the benefit, which the skill itself warns against
- Work that needs formal approval or regulated audit trails, since the audit step is advisory and fail-open by design
Try asking
- “Start a new slice for this feature and set up its SPEC and PROGRESS files”
- “Hand off this slice to the QA agent with a queue handoff and update PROGRESS”
- “Record what I verified for this slice in PROOF.md before we call it done”
- “Restore my working state from NOTES.md after compaction”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Install and set up OpenRig first, then run rig whoami to confirm the agent is resolved to the right mission and slice
- Use queue handoff only when passing real work; use queue create for simple informational messages
- Keep PROOF.md honest by listing what is not yet tested alongside what passed
