What it does
This skill gives the agent a set of Jira best practices and ready-made query patterns. Once installed, when you ask for help with Jira, the agent answers as a project management specialist: it structures work as Epics, Stories, Tasks and Sub-tasks, writes issues with clear outcome-focused titles and acceptance criteria, suggests sprint sizing based on team velocity, and writes JQL (Jira's search language) for filtering and reports. It is guidance and instruction text only; it does not connect to your Jira account by itself.
Great for
- Scrum teams or product managers who want cleaner backlogs and sprint plans
- People new to Jira who need help writing issues or JQL queries
- Team leads drafting workflow or board configuration plans
Skip it if
- Teams that need the agent to actually create, edit or read live Jira issues: the file contains no API integration, so it only gives advice unless paired with a separate Jira tool
- Organisations with a specific internal process that conflicts with the generic practices here (for example fixed sprint lengths or workflow states), since the advice is generic and may need adapting
Try asking
- “Write a well-formed user story with acceptance criteria for a password reset feature”
- “Give me a JQL query for open bugs assigned to me in the current sprint”
- “Help me plan a sprint for a team with an average velocity of 40 story points”
- “Review my backlog and tell me which issues lack enough context to be picked up”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Paste your real issues or team velocity numbers so the advice fits your context rather than generic examples.
- Ask for JQL with your own project key, sprint names and field names, since the examples use placeholders like Sprint 23 and an engineering group.
- Check the suggested workflow states against your Jira admin's configuration before changing boards.
