What it does

Once installed, the agent can create new pictures from a written description, such as illustrations, icons, posters or photos, and can edit an existing image you provide, for example adding an object or combining several pictures. It runs a bundled Python script that sends the request to whichever AI image service you have set up (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Volcengine Seedream, Alibaba Qwen, MiniMax or LinkAI), then saves the result as a file the agent shows you.

Great for

  • People who want quick illustrations or visuals without opening a design tool
  • Designers or marketers who need draft images for posters, social posts or mockups
  • Users who already hold an API key for one of the supported image services

Skip it if

  • Users without any image-service API key, since the skill cannot work without one (costs apply per generation)
  • Work needing guaranteed exact brand assets or precise pixel-level control, because AI output varies and higher quality or size costs more and runs slower
  • Sensitive photos: edited images are uploaded to the chosen third-party provider

Try asking

  • “Create a picture of a corgi astronaut floating in space”
  • “Make an isometric miniature city of Shanghai at sunset in 16:9 format”
  • “Add a Santa hat to the dog in this image: /path/to/dog.png”
  • “Combine these two character images into a group photo”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Image GenerationInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    image-generation.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip image-generation.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip image-generation.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Leave model, quality and size unset for the default; only raise quality or size when you truly need it, as it costs more and takes longer
  • For edits, give the agent a local file path or URL and describe the change clearly, otherwise a brand-new image is generated instead
  • Expect generations to take 30 to 200 seconds, and review outputs before using them commercially
