What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, a Japanese technical analysis method that combines five lines to judge price trend and momentum. When installed, the agent can calculate these lines from price data and produce simple signals: 1 for long, -1 for short, and 0 to stand aside. A buy signal requires a bullish crossover plus price above the cloud and a bullish cloud; a sell signal needs the mirror conditions. It is a trading-signal calculator, not a guarantee of profit.
Great for
- Traders or quants who already use Ichimoku and want a reproducible signal generator in Python
- Developers building backtests of trend-following rules on OHLC price data
- Students learning how Ichimoku lines and cloud filters are computed
Skip it if
- People expecting reliable investment returns: technical signals are not validated here and can lose money in choppy markets
- Live trading without independent testing: the code is a short example engine and the agent may not handle missing data, data gaps, or costs and slippage
Try asking
- “Calculate Ichimoku signals for my BTC-USDT daily dataframe and count the long, short and flat signals”
- “Explain how the Senkou Span A and B cloud is shifted forward 26 periods in my code”
- “Backtest a simple Ichimoku strategy on this CSV of hourly prices with default parameters”
- “Change the Tenkan period to 7 and Kijun to 22 and show how the signals change”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Supply at least 78 candles of history, since the signal logic needs 52 plus 26 periods of warm-up before it produces valid output
- Treat the output as one input to analysis: backtest on your own data and account for fees and slippage before any real trades
- Ask the agent to explain each line's formula so you can verify the calculation matches your intended definition
