What it does

Once installed, the agent checks text you give it for common signs of AI-generated writing, such as stock contrasts like "it's not X, it's Y", dramatic one-line closers, forced lists of three, overused dashes, inflated claims, and bold labels on every item. It then rewrites the text so it sounds more like a person wrote it, while keeping the same facts and not adding new ones. It is based on Wikipedia's guide to signs of AI writing.

Great for

  • Writers or marketers who want drafts to sound less like a chatbot before publishing
  • Editors reviewing a colleague's or their own prose for AI-style habits
  • Students or professionals polishing an essay or email while keeping their own facts

Skip it if

  • Fact-checking or adding sources: the skill is told not to invent facts, but it does not verify claims, and rewriting can still drop or distort details that need review
  • Text where a fixed, exact wording is required, such as legal, medical, or regulated copy, since the rewrite changes phrasing

Try asking

  • “Humanize this blog post draft and keep all the facts”
  • “Review this product announcement for AI tells and return the rewrite”
  • “Edit the attached essay file to remove AI-style phrasing, changing prose only”
  • “Make this email sound less like AI while keeping my voice from this sample”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Humanizer: remove AI writing patternsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    humanizer.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip humanizer.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip humanizer.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste a sample of your own writing so the skill can match your sentence length, punctuation and tone.
  • In file mode, back up the original file first, because the skill writes the rewritten text directly to it.
  • Check the rewrite against your source yourself, since the skill can still lose or subtly change a claim.
