What it does
When installed, the agent acts as a research assistant for a product manager. It asks what feature is being researched, searches the project's folders of meeting notes, competitor analyses, regulatory sources and customer requests, then writes a structured background.md summary for that feature with links to every source. It can also update shared context documents when it finds synthesized knowledge useful across several features.
Great for
- Product managers preparing background for a new feature or initiative
- Teams that keep meeting notes, competitor research and customer requests in a structured docs folder
- Anyone who wants every claim in a background brief traced back to a source
Skip it if
- Teams without an organized set of source documents, since the skill relies on existing reference and context folders and will produce thin output otherwise
- Situations needing legal or regulatory compliance advice, because the skill only summarizes what is in the provided files and the output should be checked by a qualified person
Try asking
- “Build background.md for the new bulk-export feature, focusing on customer requests and competitors”
- “Find what our meetings from the last six months say about onboarding pain points and summarize them with sources”
- “Check whether we already have a competitive analysis for SSO and update the shared context doc if it's out of date”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Point the agent at your feature folder and the reference/ and context/ folders before starting so it searches the right material
- If you have a validation.md from an office-hours session, the skill will read it first, so run that step beforehand
- Ask the agent to date each source and flag contradictions, since the skill is designed to do both
