What it does
Once installed, the agent can guide a cloud security audit of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud against the CIS Foundations Benchmarks, which are widely used checklists of recommended security settings. It walks through running automated scanners such as Prowler and ScoutSuite, reading the failed checks, ranking them by severity and Level 1 or Level 2 profile, and suggesting fixes and ongoing compliance monitoring. A bundled Python script can also run a few AWS checks directly (root access keys, root MFA, password policy) using boto3.
Great for
- Cloud or security engineers doing a first baseline audit of an AWS, Azure or GCP account
- Teams preparing evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar audits that reference CIS controls
- Admins inheriting or acquiring cloud environments who need a measurable starting point
Skip it if
- Runtime threat detection, which the skill itself says belongs to a different skill (GuardDuty-based detection) — it reports configuration state, not live attacks
- Anyone expecting automatic fixes: remediation commands are examples to review, and applying them to production can break workloads or lock out users
- Scanning accounts you do not own or have written authorisation to assess, since the tools read sensitive account configuration
Try asking
- “Run a CIS AWS v5.0 audit on my account using Prowler with read-only credentials and summarise the failed controls”
- “Rank the failed CIS Azure v4.0 checks in this scan output by severity and number of affected resources”
- “Explain CIS control 3.1 (CloudTrail in all regions) and show me how to check whether it passes in our account”
- “Help me set up continuous CIS compliance monitoring with AWS Security Hub”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use a dedicated read-only audit role rather than admin credentials, and keep remediation credentials separate as the skill recommends.
- Review every remediation command before running it, especially those that create trails, delete access keys or change encryption, and test in a non-production account first.
- Ask the agent to explain each failed control in plain language and to group findings by Level 1 first, so the fix list stays manageable.
