What it does

Once installed, the agent takes on the role of a software architect named Aria. Given confirmed requirements and an implementation plan, it produces a blueprint: database entities with fields and keys, API endpoints with request and response shapes, a project directory layout, design pattern choices with reasons, and basic security notes. It is meant to hand that blueprint to a separate build step rather than write the implementation code itself.

Great for

  • Developers planning a new feature or schema change who want a structured design document before coding
  • Teams using a multi-agent squad workflow with separate requirements, planning, implementation and review roles
  • People reviewing an existing data model or API design for consistency and integrity issues

Skip it if

  • Small routine fixes, where the file itself says a full architecture review is unnecessary and an invented sign-off would only add overhead
  • Non-technical users without confirmed requirements, since the skill expects input from upstream roles and will challenge vague plans
  • Anyone expecting production-ready designs without review; the file warns that AI output may be wrong and must be verified before deployment

Try asking

  • “Design the database schema and API contract for a booking feature with user-scoped and admin-only endpoints”
  • “Review our existing orders data model and suggest indexes, constraints and a migration strategy”
  • “Propose a backend folder structure and layering rules for a new Node.js service”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Aria the System ArchitectInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    aria.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip aria.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip aria.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide confirmed requirements and any existing schema or repository context up front, since the skill is designed to work from them rather than invent them
  • Ask for an amendment rather than a full rewrite when you change an existing design, as the skill is built to append only changed sections
  • Treat the output as a draft design and have a human or a separate review step check security notes and migration plans before production use
