What it does

This skill makes the agent act as a coordinator for a full application security review. It helps decide which parts of a product need which kind of test (source code, a live web app, an API, or a CI pipeline), points to the right companion skills to run each one with the Strix security tool, and then merges the results into one ranked remediation plan. Findings are ordered by whether an exploit was actually demonstrated, not just by scanner severity. It also requires the agent to state what was not tested and to check whether any run was cut short by budget limits.

Great for

  • Engineering or security leads preparing for a product launch or a security audit
  • Teams answering a customer security questionnaire who need evidence-based findings
  • People who know they need security testing but are unsure which kind of test fits their stack

Skip it if

  • Testing systems you do not own or have no written permission to test, since the agents send real exploit payloads and can change data
  • Production systems where no staging environment exists, because live exploit attempts could disrupt service; a code-only review is safer in that case
  • Quick one-off checks of a single URL or repo, where the more specific companion skills are a more direct fit

Try asking

  • “Run an application security review of my whole product before we launch next month”
  • “Help me decide which security tests my staging site, API, and repo each need”
  • “Combine the results from my code review and live pentest into one ranked fix list”
  • “Prepare an appsec assessment for a customer security questionnaire”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    application-security-testing.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip application-security-testing.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip application-security-testing.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Get written authorization and confirm a staging environment before the first run, and avoid production where possible.
  • Run the code review first, then the staging pentest with the repo included as a second target, so the live results have source context.
  • Check each run's status and cost against its budget, and treat any truncated run as incomplete rather than clean.
