What it does
When installed, the agent approaches requests to fake or simulate an API by first clarifying the contract, auth flows, error shapes and latency expectations, then planning routes, scenarios and state transitions before writing responses. It aims for deterministic fixtures with optional randomness, and documents how to run the mock server and switch between scenarios. A supporting playbook file holds code samples and checklists it can open when detailed implementation is requested.
Great for
- Frontend developers who need an API that does not exist yet
- Teams building integration tests against a partner or third-party API
- Sales or demo teams who need a realistic, safe sandbox API
Skip it if
- Testing live or production systems, which the skill itself says not to do, since mocks do not validate real integrations
- Security or penetration testing, which the skill explicitly excludes
- Projects with no API contract or expected behaviour to mirror, since the mock would be guesswork
Try asking
- “Create a mock server for our payments API based on this OpenAPI spec, with success and declined scenarios”
- “Mock the shipping partner's tracking endpoint so the frontend team can build the order page in parallel”
- “Build a deterministic demo backend with sample customer data for a client presentation”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Provide the real API contract (OpenAPI spec or sample responses) so the mock matches production shapes.
- Ask for fixed fixtures first, then add randomness toggles only if you need them.
- Keep mock data synthetic and clearly labelled so it is never mistaken for a live endpoint.
