Android UI Verification

Lets an agent test and screenshot a React Native or Android app on an emulator using ADB.

What it does

When installed, the agent can drive an Android emulator through ADB (Android Debug Bridge, a developer command-line tool): it reads the screen layout, taps, swipes and types, takes screenshots, and reads the app's JavaScript console logs. This lets it check whether a UI change works, rather than only reading the code. A bundled helper script collects the layout dump, a screenshot and recent logs into an artifacts folder, but it does not decide whether a test passed; the agent or a person must inspect the results.

Great for

  • React Native or Android developers who want an agent to smoke-test a UI change on an emulator
  • Teams that need screenshots of a screen for pull request documentation
  • Developers debugging layout or tap-target issues who want quick visual evidence

Skip it if

  • Testing on physical phones or production devices with real user data, since the skill assumes an emulator and may capture personal information in screenshots and logs
  • Formal regression or pass/fail test suites, because the skill itself does not assert outcomes and its own guidance says it is not a substitute for expert review
  • Non-Android platforms such as iOS, which ADB does not control

Try asking

  • “Run the login screen on my Android emulator, tap the email field, type a test address and take a screenshot”
  • “Check whether the settings screen layout looks right after my latest React Native change and save the screenshot for the PR”
  • “Scroll the feed on emulator-5554 and show me any ReactNativeJS errors in the logs”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Android UI VerificationInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    android_ui_verification.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip android_ui_verification.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip android_ui_verification.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Always set ANDROID_SERIAL to an emulator you own and have authorised, and check it with adb devices -l first
  • Ask the agent to poll for the expected screen text with a timeout rather than relying on fixed delays, and to inspect the screenshot itself
  • Keep the artifacts folder private if the app shows personal or test account data, and delete it after review
