What it does

When installed, this skill gives an AI agent a structured playbook for making an existing AI agent work better. It walks through collecting performance data such as success rates, corrections and tool misuse, classifying why failures happen, rewriting prompts and examples, and then testing original versus improved versions before rolling changes out in stages. It is a set of written instructions rather than a finished tool, and it refers to helper agent roles and a test runner that are not actually bundled with it.

Great for

  • Developers maintaining an AI agent in production who want a disciplined process for prompt changes
  • Teams running structured evaluations or A/B tests on agent behaviour
  • Anyone who already has traces, metrics or test cases for an agent and wants to act on them

Skip it if

  • Building a brand-new agent from scratch, which the skill itself says it is not for (the skill is about improving existing agents)
  • Situations with no metrics, feedback or test cases, since the skill says it should not be used then
  • Unattended use on live systems without human review: it references deploying prompt changes and recurring reports, and the file asks the agent to follow the user's authorization, so a human should approve each step

Try asking

  • “Analyse the last week of traces for my customer-support agent and list the top failure modes by root cause”
  • “Help me design a regression test set from previously failed tasks for my coding agent”
  • “Propose prompt revisions for my research agent and a plan to A/B test them against the current version”
  • “Create a baseline performance report template for my agent's task success and tool-call efficiency”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    agent-orchestration-improve-agent.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip agent-orchestration-improve-agent.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip agent-orchestration-improve-agent.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide real traces or metrics first; the workflow is much weaker without data
  • Keep traces redacted and set limits on cost and number of steps, as the skill recommends
  • Treat the referenced helper roles and test runner as gaps to fill with your own tooling rather than assuming they exist
