What it does

Once installed, the agent can drive a real web browser from the command line: open pages, read the interactive elements on them, fill in forms, click buttons, wait for pages to load, take screenshots or PDFs, and pull text or data out of pages. It keeps a background browser running between steps and can save login sessions so later runs stay signed in. Because the skill is a set of instructions plus a command tool, the agent follows the documented workflow instead of guessing at browser commands.

Great for

  • Developers who want an agent to test a web app's forms or flows end to end
  • Analysts who need data pulled from a website that has no API
  • People automating repetitive web tasks such as filling out the same form weekly

Skip it if

  • Sensitive accounts such as banking or email, since the agent acts with real logins and saved session state, which can be risky if the agent misclicks or is manipulated by page content
  • Scraping sites whose terms of service forbid automated access
  • Tasks that need no web interaction, where the skill adds nothing

Try asking

  • “Open example.com/signup, fill in the form with test data, and take a screenshot of the result”
  • “Log into my staging dashboard, save the session, and check the page title on each run”
  • “Scrape the product names and prices from this listing page into a text file”
  • “Compare the homepage before and after my deploy and show what changed”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Browser Automation with agent-browserInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    agent-browser.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip agent-browser.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip agent-browser.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run snapshot -i after every navigation or DOM change, because element refs like @e1 go stale once the page changes
  • Use --session-name for named sessions and encrypt state with AGENT_BROWSER_ENCRYPTION_KEY if you save logins
  • Keep credentials in environment variables rather than pasting them into prompts or commands
