What it is
This is a plugin for the macOS version of WeChat (微信) that adds features the official app lacks. Based on the README, it can prevent messages from being recalled, auto-reply to chats, open multiple WeChat logins, and control some Mac functions by sending WeChat messages. It installs through a Terminal script that modifies the WeChat app.
- Turn on message anti-recall to keep messages that others try to withdraw
- Set up keyword-based auto-replies for group or private chats
- Open a second WeChat login with the multi-open feature
- Copy and save emoji from chat windows
Great for
- Mac users who regularly use WeChat desktop and want extra features
- Users comfortable running Terminal commands to install a modified app
- People who want to run more than one WeChat account on one Mac
Not ideal for
- Users who want to avoid modifying the WeChat application, since installation changes WeChat.app and the README warns that using plugins carries risk
- Users on Windows or Linux, since the project targets macOS only
- Anyone needing a supported, officially maintained tool, because the last push was in June 2024 and the README lists support up to WeChat 2.3.22 in its badges

Get the most out of it
- Enable Alfred integration only if you use Alfred, as the README says it is unnecessary otherwise
- Use the shortcut keys listed in the README, such as command + t for anti-recall and command + k for auto-reply
- Note that remote control only works for commands sent to your own account, per the README
- For remote control of NetEase Cloud Music, add WeChat and Script Editor under the Accessibility privacy settings
Downloads
Strengths
- Large feature list documented in the README, including anti-recall, auto-reply, and multi-login
- Open source under the MIT license, so the code can be inspected
- Has a separate Alfred workflow for quick message sending and chat search
Trade-offs
- The README includes a disclaimer that using the plugin carries risk, and the author says users bear responsibility for misuse
- Install and uninstall require Terminal and may need permission changes to /Applications/WeChat.app
- Latest release is v1.7.5 with no binaries, and the last push was June 2024, so compatibility with newer WeChat versions is unclear
