What it is
Filee is a desktop app for converting files between formats. You hold a key, drag a file, and drop it on a format in a donut menu that opens at your cursor. The README says conversion happens on your computer, nothing is uploaded, and it works offline, covering images, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HWP, video, audio, e-books and archives.
- Convert a folder of photos to PNG or WEBP by dragging them onto a format
- Turn a Word or PowerPoint file into PDF without installing Office
- Convert HWP documents to HWPX or DOCX
- Batch-convert files with watch folders that process new files automatically
- Crop pictures before saving them
Great for
- People who regularly convert images or documents and want a drag-and-drop workflow
- Users who need to convert files without uploading them to a website
- Anyone who works with Korean HWP/HWPX documents, based on the README's format list
- Users who want batch conversion with watch folders
Not ideal for
- People who need the Office suite itself: the README says conversions work without Office, but it is not an editor
- Linux users on Wayland who want drag gestures: the README says drag gestures need X11
- Users on Windows 10 without recent updates who may hit the startup problem described in the README

Strengths
- Converts files on your own computer, with no upload step according to the README
- Offers a broad range of formats, with the README listing 263 to 270 depending on the section
- Has a Windows installer, portable zip, Linux packages and a macOS preview
Trade-offs
- macOS support is labeled preview, and the build is not yet notarized
- Drag gestures on Linux require X11
- Some features such as Live Photo conversion are marked experimental in the README
