What it is
This project downloads Douyin (TikTok's Chinese counterpart) videos and photos without watermarks. It offers a desktop app called Douzy for everyday use, and a Python command-line tool for scripts and batch jobs. The README says the CLI currently only handles Douyin and is blocked by Douyin's request verification for many single-item downloads, so the desktop app is the recommended route.
- Save a creator's recent profile posts to a local folder using the CLI with a post limit
- Skip already-downloaded items on repeat runs using the incremental setting
- Filter profile downloads to a date range using start and end dates
- Use the Douzy desktop app to paste links and browse a local archive
Great for
- People who want to archive their own or a creator's public Douyin posts for personal reference
- Users comfortable running Python commands who want scripted profile downloads
- Anyone who wants a desktop interface covering several platforms, such as TikTok or YouTube, alongside Douyin
Not ideal for
- Users who need guaranteed CLI downloads of individual videos, collections, music, likes, or favorites, because the README says Douyin's verification currently blocks these
- People who are not comfortable with terminal setup, cookies, and a browser automation dependency
- Anyone planning to redistribute downloaded content, since the README asks users to respect copyright and platform rules

Downloads
Strengths
- Supports single-item and profile batch downloads, with retries and download history
- Includes a desktop app (Douzy) for Windows and macOS, so no terminal is needed for basic use
- MIT licensed and open source, with a large community following on GitHub
Trade-offs
- The README states that Douyin's verification currently blocks many CLI downloads, and retrying or refreshing cookies does not fix this
- Some desktop features and batch features require activation or plugins, per the README
- Depends on your own cookies and browser fallback, which can break when the platform changes
