What it is
ReClip is a free, open-source tool you run on your own computer or server. You paste links from sites like YouTube or TikTok into a web page, and it saves the video as MP4 or the audio as MP3. It relies on the yt-dlp download engine and ffmpeg for conversion, and the README says it supports 1000+ sites.
- Save a YouTube video as an MP4 for offline viewing
- Extract the audio from a video as an MP3
- Paste several links at once and download them in one batch
- Pick a quality or resolution before downloading when the site offers options
Great for
- People who want a local, self-hosted way to save videos for personal use
- Users who want to download several links at once with a simple web interface
- People comfortable running a short terminal command or Docker
- Anyone who wants to pull audio out of a video as MP3
Not ideal for
- People who cannot install software or run a terminal command, since setup requires installing yt-dlp and ffmpeg first
- Anyone planning to redistribute copyrighted material, because the README says the tool is for personal use and asks users to respect copyright and platform terms
- Users who need a polished desktop app with automatic updates, since the README describes only a web UI and gives no update mechanism

Downloads
Strengths
- Runs on your own machine, so you control where files go
- Simple web interface with no build step, according to the README
- Uses yt-dlp, a widely used download engine, to cover many sites
Trade-offs
- Downloads depend on yt-dlp and ffmpeg, which must be installed separately
- Only personal use is endorsed; the README places copyright and terms-of-service responsibility on the user
- The README is truncated and does not document limits, update process, or detailed configuration
