How to use the Morph PPT Transitions agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The morph-ppt skill is an agent skill that tells an AI agent how to build a PowerPoint (.pptx) where shapes glide, grow, or rotate from one slide to the next using the Morph transition. It is written for people who want Keynote-style continuous motion instead of simple fades. After reading this guide you will know what the skill does, how to install it, how to ask for a morph deck in plain language, and what it needs to run.

Morph PPT TransitionsiOfficeAI/OfficeCLI · Apache-2.0

Quick start

  1. 1Install OfficeCLI. Run the install line for your operating system, then open a new terminal and run officecli --version to confirm it works.
  2. 2Install the skill. Unzip the morph-ppt download into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder, or upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills in the Claude apps.
  3. 3Make sure the base skill is present. The officecli-pptx base skill must be available and read first, because morph-ppt inherits its rules.
  4. 4Ask for a morph deck in plain words. Describe the motion you want, such as shapes that grow or rotate from one slide to the next, and use words like morph or smooth transition.
  5. 5Check and view the file. Open the resulting .pptx in PowerPoint 365, Keynote, or WPS to confirm the Morph motion plays as described.

What the morph-ppt skill makes the agent do

An agent skill is a folder of instructions and helper files that an AI agent reads when a request matches the skill's description. This one covers decks where matching shapes on adjacent slides move, resize, or rotate as the slide advances. PowerPoint's Morph engine interpolates those changes, so the motion looks continuous rather than cut or faded.

The agent creates a single .pptx file. It names shapes using a scheme so that matching shapes on neighbouring slides are linked, and it builds the deck through the OfficeCLI command-line tool. Helper scripts and a library of visual style templates are included to speed up the build.

  • Output: one .pptx file with Morph transitions set on the slides.
  • Naming: matching shapes share an identical name across adjacent slides, which is how Morph pairs them.
  • Builds run through the OfficeCLI command-line tool, with optional Python and Bash helper scripts.
  • Visual styles come from a library of templates under reference/styles/.

Install the morph-ppt skill

Download the skill ZIP from the item page on this directory and unzip it. For a personal setup, place the folder in ~/.claude/skills/. For a single project, place it in the project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps you can instead upload the skill under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

The skill depends on OfficeCLI and on the officecli-pptx base skill, so install both. If the officecli command is missing, use the install line for your system. Then open a new terminal and check the version.

  • macOS or Linux: curl -fsSL https://d.officecli.ai/install.sh | bash
  • Windows (PowerShell): irm https://d.officecli.ai/install.ps1 | iex
  • If the install script fails, download a binary from the OfficeCLI releases page on GitHub.
  • Read the officecli-pptx base skill first; morph-ppt inherits its rules.
officecli --version

Trigger the skill with natural requests

The agent loads the skill when your request matches its description. Use plain words that describe the motion you want. The skill is triggered by phrases such as 'morph', 'morph transition', 'smooth transition', 'continuous animation across slides', 'Keynote-style transition', 'animated slide sequence', and 'shape continuity across slides'.

The skill is not meant for ordinary decks. If you ask for a generic deck, a pitch deck, or a board review with no cross-slide motion, the agent is directed to the base pptx skill or the pitch-deck skill instead.

  • Good: 'Make a 5-slide .pptx where the logo grows and moves across slides with a Keynote-style transition.'
  • Good: 'Build an animated slide sequence where a ring rotates from slide to slide, morph transition.'
  • Not a fit: 'Make a board review deck with clean slides.' (no cross-slide motion requested)

Know what the agent builds before it starts

The skill asks the agent to plan names before adding shapes. Shapes are grouped by prefix: scene decoration that stays on every slide, actors that evolve and then exit, and per-slide content that is removed on the next slide. Adjacent slides should also differ spatially, so the Morph has something visible to interpolate.

Shapes that should leave the canvas are not deleted. They are moved off the right edge, which keeps the exit animation working.

  • Scene decoration uses names starting with !!scene- and never leaves the deck.
  • Actors use names starting with !!actor- and evolve, then exit.
  • Per-slide content uses names starting with #sN- (N is the slide number) and is moved off-canvas on slide N+1.
  • Off-canvas position is x=36cm, just past the 33.87cm slide width.
  • Between paired slides, move at least 5cm or rotate at least 15 degrees, otherwise Morph shows nothing visible.

Set and tune the Morph transition

The transition is set on the slide with the transition=morph property. Speed or duration is set through a shorthand on the same property. The skill notes that the CLI's help output is authoritative, so check it when a flag is uncertain.

The CLI also prepends !! to shape names on Morph slides. Name selectors still resolve, so you can read back a shape by the name you used. Use the single-quote rule for names and dollar-sign text so the shell does not alter them.

  • transition=morph sets a plain Morph transition.
  • transition=morph-slow or transition=morph-fast sets speed.
  • transition=morph-1500 sets a duration in milliseconds.
  • Always single-quote values containing !! or $, for example --prop 'name=!!scene-ring' or --prop text='$9/mo'.

Check the output and view it in the right app

Morph only plays in PowerPoint 365, Keynote, or WPS. LibreOffice and many web viewers show a plain fade instead. That is a limitation of the viewer, not a broken file. The skill's delivery checks should pass before the agent reports the deck as finished, and the agent is told to print an OK for each gate.

Open the file in one of the supported apps to confirm the motion looks right.

  • Open in PowerPoint 365, Keynote, or WPS to see Morph.
  • If you only see a fade, check the viewer before editing the file.
  • Ask the agent to rerun its checks if any gate does not print OK.

What people use it for

  • A presenter turns a product logo into a larger hero image across three slides.
  • A designer prototypes an animated slide sequence where a shape rotates through a process.
  • A developer generates a scripted morph deck from a command-line workflow using the helper scripts.
  • A team builds a stage-style talk with dark backgrounds and continuous motion between sections.

Frequently asked questions

How do I install the morph-ppt skill?

Download the skill ZIP from this page and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or a project's .claude/skills/ folder for one project. In the Claude apps you can upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills. You also need OfficeCLI and the officecli-pptx base skill.

What do I need to run morph-ppt?

You need OfficeCLI, the officecli-pptx base skill read first, and Python 3 for the morph-helpers.py script. Bash is needed for the .sh helper and build scripts, and an optional colorama package is listed. To view the result you need PowerPoint 365, Keynote, or WPS.

Does morph-ppt run scripts and use the network?

Yes on both counts. The skill runs helper scripts and uses the network, for example to install OfficeCLI from the official install line or the GitHub releases page. Read the scripts before running them if that matters for your setup.

Why does my Morph transition show only a fade?

The viewer is likely the cause. Morph renders in PowerPoint 365, Keynote, and WPS, while LibreOffice and many web viewers show a plain fade. Open the file in a supported app to check.

Can I use morph-ppt for an ordinary presentation?

No. The skill is for decks with cross-slide motion. For a generic deck, pitch deck, or board review without morph, the skill directs the agent to the officecli-pptx base skill or the officecli-pitch-deck skill.

Is morph-ppt free and what is its licence?

The item is licensed under Apache-2.0. Check the licence text in the download for the terms that apply to your use.

Our verdict

Use morph-ppt if you want PowerPoint decks where shapes move continuously between slides and you are comfortable running a command-line tool and reading a short setup. Pick something else for ordinary decks, pitch decks, or board reviews, or if your audience will only view the file in LibreOffice or a web viewer, which shows a plain fade.
