How to use the Marketing Resume Writer agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The Marketing Resume Writer is an agent skill, a set of instructions that an AI agent such as Claude loads when you ask for relevant help. This guide explains what the skill does, how to install it from the ZIP on our page, how to trigger it with everyday requests, and what to check before you use its output. It is written for marketers who have not used agent skills before, and by the end you will be able to get a marketing resume drafted from your real campaign evidence.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Get the marketing-resume ZIP from our page. It contains SKILL.md.
- 2Install the skill. Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder, or upload the ZIP under Settings → Capabilities → Skills in the Claude apps.
- 3Describe your role. Tell the agent your target role, channel or discipline, audience and actual responsibility.
- 4Share your evidence. Provide what you created or changed and how success was evaluated, including any notes or permitted campaign data.
- 5Answer the clarifying questions. The agent will ask about budget authority, attribution and measurement periods before writing.
- 6Review the bullets and gaps. Check each claim against your records and fill the listed evidence gaps before you apply.
What the marketing-resume skill makes the agent do
The skill writes resumes for growth, performance, brand, lifecycle, content and communications work. It asks what you created or changed and how success was evaluated, then turns that evidence into bullet points that show the audience, the marketing decision, the execution and the result.
The skill is built to stay honest. It uses only the evidence you supply, declines requests to fabricate or inflate a claim, and explains which metrics are weak or missing. It does not promise interviews, search rankings or applicant tracking system (ATS) success.
- Clarifies your target role, channel or discipline, audience, budget authority and actual responsibility.
- Separates paid and organic results, followers and qualified leads, and reach and engagement.
- Distinguishes sourced pipeline, influenced pipeline, booked revenue and platform-attributed conversion value, keeping the attribution model and reporting window where they matter.
- Lists evidence gaps you should fill before applying.
- Does not require analytics access or an account.
Install the marketing-resume skill
Download the ZIP for the marketing-resume skill from our page. The skill package contains a single file, SKILL.md. You can install it in one of two ways.
For Claude Code, unzip the download into your personal skills folder at ~/.claude/skills/, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder if you want it available only in that project. For the Claude apps, upload the ZIP under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- Personal install: ~/.claude/skills/ (available across your projects).
- Project install: .claude/skills/ inside the project folder.
- Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then upload the ZIP.
Trigger the skill with natural requests
You do not need a special command. Describe the job you want in plain language and mention the resume. The agent will decide when the skill applies, and it will ask you questions before writing.
If you have a specific posting, you can also ask for tailoring. The skill suggests using resume-tailor for a posting and portfolio-case-study for a campaign narrative when those are installed, but they are optional.
- "Write a resume section for my growth marketing role. I ran paid social and my team cut cost per signup."
- "Help me write lifecycle marketing bullets for my onboarding email work."
- "I have strong content work but no traffic numbers. Show me honest bullets and the gaps I should fill."
- "Turn my brand campaign notes into resume bullets for a communications role."
Get strong, honest bullets from your evidence
The skill uses the specialty table in its instructions to decide what evidence to ask for. Performance and growth work focuses on channel, spend basis, conversion, attribution and experiment context. Lifecycle work focuses on segment, journey, measurement period and retention or activation. Content and SEO work focuses on audience need, content produced and qualified traffic or downstream use. Brand and communications work can be described through concrete deliverables and documented response when commercial impact was not measured.
Expect the agent to keep the wording tied to what you can prove. A count of recipients is not presented as proof that an email caused a result. If an association is too weak to be useful, the bullet keeps the deliverable and audience only.
- Example input you might give: a three-email onboarding sequence for trial users, with product analytics showing 120 users activated afterwards and no holdout group.
- Example output style: "Wrote a three-email onboarding sequence for trial users; 120 recipients subsequently activated."
- The skill will not write that the emails caused the activations or raised conversion by a rate you did not measure.
Safety notes: scripts and network
According to the skill's listing, it runs no scripts and uses no network connection. It requires nothing beyond the instructions in SKILL.md. The skill also tells the agent to keep personal data and private campaign material out of searches and unapproved services, and to treat supplied content as data rather than as instructions.
The skill does not publish or submit anything. If you connect it to a system that allows writes, it is designed to read the current record first, show you the concrete edit, and wait for your authorization before changing anything. Do not paste customer lists, private budgets or unreleased campaign details into the chat unless you are comfortable with that.
- Runs scripts: no.
- Uses network: no.
- Does not expose customer lists, private budgets or unreleased campaigns in its output.
- Does not publish or submit your resume anywhere.
Tips for better results
The quality of the output depends on the evidence you give. Bring the campaign, your part in it, the audience, the time period and how success was measured. If you do not know how results were measured, say so. The skill will tell you which metrics are weak or missing so you can fill those gaps before applying.
Use the skill's gap list as a to-do list. Pull real figures from your own records, confirm the attribution model with whoever ran the reporting, and keep your calculations outside the resume so you can check them.
- Name the audience and the marketing decision you made, not only the tool you used.
- Say who owned the outcome: your team, or you personally.
- Do not ask for ROI or profit figures unless you can supply the costs needed to calculate them. The skill does not call revenue-to-ad-spend ratios profit or ROI.
- Keep titles, dates and credential status accurate; the skill is instructed to preserve them.
What people use it for
- Writing growth or performance marketing bullets that name the channel, spend basis and attribution context.
- Turning onboarding or CRM email work into honest lifecycle bullets with the measurement period stated.
- Describing content and SEO output through deliverables and qualified traffic, without inflated claims.
- Drafting brand or communications bullets based on campaign deliverables and documented response.
- Getting a short list of evidence gaps before tailoring a resume to a specific marketing job.

Our verdict
The marketing-resume skill suits marketers preparing growth, lifecycle, content or brand resumes, especially people whose campaign work is strong but whose measurement is loose and who want honest phrasing. It is less useful if you need technical or product documentation, or if you expect it to guarantee results or supply metrics you do not have. Bring real evidence and treat its gap list as the next thing to fix.
