How to use the GEO Proposal Generator agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The geo-proposal skill is an add-on for an AI coding agent such as Claude Code. Once it is installed, the agent can take the results of a GEO audit (a check of how well a website appears in AI search tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity) and draft a full sales proposal. This guide explains what the skill does, how to install it, how to trigger it, what it needs, and where you should be careful before sending anything to a client.

Quick start

  1. 1Download the ZIP. Download the geo-proposal skill ZIP from this page.
  2. 2Unzip the skill. Unzip the file so the folder contains SKILL.md. Place it in ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or in .claude/skills/ inside a project.
  3. 3Or upload it in the Claude apps. If you use the Claude apps, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the skill.
  4. 4Run a GEO audit. Make sure a prior audit for the prospect exists under ~/.geo-prospects/audits/. If not, run the broader GEO toolkit's quick audit first.
  5. 5Ask for the proposal. Use a natural request such as 'generate proposal for example.com' or the slash command with a domain or audit file.
  6. 6Review and edit the draft. Check the prices, contract terms, statistics and ROI table against your own data before sharing.
  7. 7Find the saved file. Open the markdown file saved in ~/.geo-prospects/proposals/ and send or convert it as needed.

What is an agent skill and what does geo-proposal do?

An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file. The file tells an AI agent when to use a task and how to carry it out. The agent reads the file when it sees a matching request, then follows the steps inside it.

The geo-proposal skill is written for agencies and freelancers who sell GEO (AI search visibility) services. It reads an existing GEO audit for a prospect and produces a proposal with an executive summary, key findings, three service tiers (Basic, Standard and Premium) with prices, a timeline and terms. The output is a markdown file.

  • Pulls the GEO score, top critical findings, quick wins, business type and estimated traffic impact from the audit.
  • Recommends a tier based on the score: 0-40 suggests Premium, 41-60 suggests Standard, 61-75 suggests Basic.
  • Saves the proposal to ~/.geo-prospects/proposals/ and updates the prospect record in ~/.geo-prospects/prospects.json if that record exists.

Install the geo-proposal skill

Download the ZIP file for the skill from this page. The skill is distributed as a single SKILL.md file inside the ZIP. Unzip it so that the folder contains SKILL.md.

You have two options. For a personal setup that works in all your projects, unzip the skill into ~/.claude/skills/. For a single project, unzip it into the .claude/skills/ folder inside that project.

If you use the Claude apps instead of a local agent, you can upload the skill under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

  • Personal install: ~/.claude/skills/
  • Project install: .claude/skills/ inside your project folder
  • Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then upload

What you need before you start

The skill needs Claude Code or a compatible agent that can read and write files and run shell commands. It also needs a prior GEO audit for the prospect. The skill looks for audit files at ~/.geo-prospects/audits/ and expects them to have been produced by the wider GEO toolkit.

If no audit file exists for the domain, the skill suggests running a quick audit first. Without audit data, the skill has nothing to build the proposal from.

  • Claude Code or a compatible agent with file read/write and shell access
  • A GEO audit file stored under ~/.geo-prospects/audits/, named by domain
  • Optional PDF tooling: the description mentions PDF output, but the skill file does not define it, so markdown is the output you can rely on

How to trigger the skill with natural requests

You do not need to remember a special command. The skill is meant to activate when you use words such as 'proposal', 'proposta', 'offerta', 'preventivo' or 'generate proposal', or after you have finished a GEO audit for a prospect.

The skill also documents a slash-style command. You can give it a domain or the path to an audit file, and optionally a tier, a client name and a monthly amount. The examples in the skill use these forms.

  • 'Generate a proposal for electron-srl.com'
  • 'Write a standard tier proposal for electron-srl.com for Electron Srl'
  • 'Create the proposal from ~/.geo-prospects/audits/electron-srl.com-audit.md' (use your actual audit file name)
/geo proposal electron-srl.com --tier standard --client-name "Electron Srl"

Review the proposal before you send it

The template has fixed values that you must check. Tier prices (€2,500, €5,000 and €9,500 per month), the minimum contract lengths, and a set of market statistics and ROI percentages are written into the template itself. The skill does not verify them against any source. Some figures are presented as facts, such as growth rates and user counts.

Treat the output as a draft. Confirm the prices fit your business, delete or source any statistic you cannot back up, and rewrite the ROI table if you cannot defend its assumptions.

  • Check every price and contract term against your own offer.
  • Remove or verify market statistics before sending.
  • Check the score-based tier recommendation makes sense for the prospect.
  • Make sure the ROI projection is one you can explain if the client asks.

Tips for better results

The quality of the proposal depends on the quality of the audit. Run the audit first, check that the file is in the expected folder, and then ask for the proposal. Use the client name option when the domain name does not match the company name well.

If you sell to a specific market, you can use the --monthly option, which appears in the skill's command syntax, to set a monthly amount. The skill file itself does not describe how this option changes the output, so check the result.

  • Keep one audit file per domain and date so the skill finds the right one.
  • Use --tier when you already know which package to offer, instead of relying on the score recommendation.
  • Keep your own prospect notes in ~/.geo-prospects/ so the prospect record stays in sync.

What people use it for

  • An agency sends a draft proposal to a prospect within the same day as the audit.
  • A sales rep who is new to GEO produces a consistent proposal layout for each prospect.
  • A freelancer prepares three tier options for a client with a low score and compares them before a call.
  • An account lead updates the prospect record so that the proposal and the audit stay linked.

Frequently asked questions

Is the GEO Proposal Generator skill free?

The skill is published under the MIT licence, which is stated on this page. Check the repository's licence file for the full terms. Any AI agent or tool you use to run it may have its own costs.

What do I need to install the geo-proposal skill?

You need Claude Code or a compatible agent with file read/write and shell access. You also need a prior GEO audit stored under ~/.geo-prospects/audits/. The skill cannot produce a proposal without that audit data.

Where do I put the skill files?

Unzip the downloaded ZIP so SKILL.md sits in ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or in .claude/skills/ inside a project. In the Claude apps, upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

Does the skill run scripts or use the internet?

The skill's listing says it runs no scripts and uses no network. Its frontmatter does list WebFetch among the allowed tools, so check your agent's permission settings and review the file before you rely on that claim.

Can I use this skill for an independent or objective audit?

No. The skill is built for agencies pitching GEO services. Its prices, ROI figures and market statistics are hardcoded in the template, so use an independent audit tool if you need neutral results.

How does geo-proposal compare with writing proposals by hand?

The skill gives a consistent structure and fills in findings from an audit file quickly. It does not check its own statistics or prices, so you still need to review and edit the output before sending it.

Our verdict

The geo-proposal skill suits agencies and freelancers who already run GEO audits and want a fast, consistent proposal draft. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs an objective audit, or who does not have audit files, because the prices and market figures in the template are fixed and unverified.
