How to use the Demo Day Pitch Deck Builder agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The html-ppt-pitch-deck skill is an agent skill for Claude-style agents that reads a SKILL.md file and then builds a fundraising pitch deck as a self-contained HTML slide presentation. It is aimed at founders preparing an accelerator Demo Day or an angel investor pitch who want a styled HTML deck with a starting structure of hook, traction, moat and the raise. By the end of this guide you will know what the skill does, how to install it, how to trigger it with a plain request, and what to check before you show the deck to anyone.

Quick start

  1. 1Download and unzip the skill. Download the ZIP from this page and unzip it on your computer. Confirm that the SKILL.md file is inside the skill folder.
  2. 2Place the skill folder. Move the folder to ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or to .claude/skills/ inside your project. Alternatively, upload it in the Claude apps under Settings, Capabilities, Skills.
  3. 3Add the companion template files. Make sure the html-ppt master skill and the pitch-deck template exist in design-templates/html-ppt/. Fix the shared asset links in index.html using Recipe A or Recipe B.
  4. 4Ask for a deck in plain language. Describe the audience, decision goal and deck type, and mention pitch deck or fundraising. Answer the agent's questions about sources and key numbers.
  5. 5Review and verify before presenting. Open the HTML in a browser, check navigation and speaker notes, and verify every number and claim against your own records.

What the skill makes the agent do

Once installed, the agent can produce a fundraising pitch deck as an HTML slide presentation that follows the layout and structure of a pitch-deck template. The skill points the agent to a master HTML slide skill (html-ppt) and to a specific pitch-deck template, so the agent does not have to invent a design from scratch.

Before writing any slides, the agent asks for an audience, a decision goal, source materials and key numbers. It then produces the slides, speaker notes and a visual plan. The skill's own description says it only organizes content, so the facts and figures still have to come from you.

  • Output is HTML, not PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Speaker notes are placed in a notes element so they stay out of the visible slides.
  • Animations and a keyboard navigation runtime come from the shared template files.

Install the skill from the ZIP or the Claude apps

Download the ZIP for this skill from this page and unzip it. For Claude Code, place the skill folder in your personal skills directory at ~/.claude/skills/, or in a project-specific .claude/skills/ folder inside the project you are working on. The agent should then pick the skill up from that location.

If you use the Claude apps instead, open Settings, go to Capabilities, and upload the skill under Skills.

  • Personal install: ~/.claude/skills/
  • Project install: .claude/skills/ inside your project folder
  • Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills
~/.claude/skills/html-ppt-pitch-deck/ .claude/skills/html-ppt-pitch-deck/

Add the companion master skill and template files

This skill is not self-contained. It depends on the html-ppt master skill and the pitch-deck template files in the same repository (design-templates/html-ppt/). The files in this package are example.html and SKILL.md, so you need those companion files too.

The upstream index.html links its CSS and JavaScript using parent-relative paths that break once you copy it into a project. The source describes two fixes. Recipe A copies fonts.css, base.css, animations/animations.css and runtime.js into a project-local assets/ folder and rewrites the four link and script tags to point there. Recipe B inlines the contents of those four files into the HTML so you get one self-contained index.html. Pick one per project and do not ship the ../../../assets/ paths in the final file.

  • Start from design-templates/html-ppt/templates/full-decks/pitch-deck/ and keep the .tpl-pitch-deck body class.
  • Optional: swap in any of the 36 themes from design-templates/html-ppt/assets/themes/ using the theme-link element.
  • Keep the LICENSE file at design-templates/html-ppt/LICENSE if you redistribute the deck.

Trigger the skill with a natural request

You do not need special syntax. Describe the deck you want in plain language and mention the pitch context. The skill's triggers include phrases such as pitch deck, fundraising pitch, investor deck, series-a-pitch-deck and html slides, so using those words helps the agent select it.

Expect the agent to ask follow-up questions first. Answer them with specifics rather than general claims, because the agent will build the slide plan, slide text and speaker notes from your answers.

  • Example: Build a Demo Day pitch deck as an HTML presentation for accelerator partners. Our decision goal is a meeting for a follow-on conversation.
  • Example: Create a fundraising investor deck in HTML with a hook, traction, moat and the raise. Use the numbers in my notes file.
  • Example: Draft speaker notes and a visual plan for a 10-slide angel pitch deck.

Give the agent the inputs it needs

The skill asks for four things before writing slides: the audience, the decision you want them to make, your source materials and your key numbers. The example prompt bundled with the skill also asks for a deadline and any numbers that must be kept as written. Providing these up front produces a more focused deck.

If you cannot supply a number, tell the agent to leave a clearly marked placeholder instead of estimating. Unsupported figures are the main risk with this kind of tool.

  • Audience (for example accelerator partners or angels)
  • Decision goal (what you want them to do next)
  • Source-of-truth materials (documents, notes, prior decks)
  • Key numbers that must stay exactly as given
  • Deadline, if there is one

Check safety, scripts and what to verify

The skill as described does not run scripts and does not use the network. It consists of instructions in SKILL.md plus an example HTML file. Still, the agent can write any content it likes into the deck, so review every line before it leaves your hands.

Verify every financial figure, market size, customer count and growth claim against your own records. The skill only organizes content. Investors will check claims, and an error in a number can damage credibility more than a weak slide.

  • No scripts are run by this skill, according to its listing.
  • No network use is listed, according to its listing.
  • Speaker notes must stay in notes elements and never appear as on-slide text.
  • Check the rendered HTML in a browser before you present.

Tips for a stronger deck

Use the skill for structure and layout, then rewrite the wording in your own voice. A good starting order is hook, traction, moat and the raise, so the investor sees why the business matters early. Ask the agent to explain why the company is venture-scale and urgent, and see whether the answer is backed by your evidence.

Keep the template's structural class names when you edit the content. Swapping class names can stop the scoped styles from applying.

  • Put real evidence next to each claim in your source notes.
  • Ask for a critic pass on the slide plan before writing the final slides.
  • Test slide navigation in a browser after any copy or path change.

What people use it for

  • Preparing a Demo Day pitch for an accelerator partner meeting
  • Drafting a short angel investor deck with a hook, traction, moat and the raise
  • Creating speaker notes and a visual plan for an existing set of investor facts
  • Turning a rough fundraising outline into a styled HTML slide presentation

Frequently asked questions

Is the Demo Day Pitch Deck Builder skill free to use?

The repository is listed under the Apache-2.0 licence. The upstream html-ppt-skill that the template comes from is described in the skill's attribution as MIT-licensed, so check the LICENSE file at design-templates/html-ppt/LICENSE before redistributing.

What do I need to run the html-ppt-pitch-deck skill?

You need a SKILL.md-compatible agent such as Claude Code, plus the companion html-ppt master skill and pitch-deck template files from the same repository. The skill alone is not enough.

How do I install an agent skill like this one?

Download the ZIP, unzip it, and place the folder in ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or in .claude/skills/ inside a project. In the Claude apps you can upload it under Settings, Capabilities, Skills.

Does the skill produce a PowerPoint or Google Slides file?

No. It outputs an HTML slide presentation. If you need a PowerPoint or Google Slides file, you will need to rebuild the content in those tools.

Will the agent make up numbers for my pitch deck?

It can. The skill only organizes content, and the agent may write unsupported numbers. Provide your own figures and check every number before presenting to investors.

Why do the slides fail to load after I copy the template?

The upstream index.html uses parent-relative paths to shared CSS and JavaScript. After copying, those links break and the deck does not activate. Use Recipe A to copy the assets locally and rewrite the links, or Recipe B to inline them.

Our verdict

This skill suits founders who want a styled HTML pitch deck with a ready structure they can fill with their own facts. It is not suitable if you need verified financials, a PowerPoint or Google Slides file, or a tool that checks your market claims. If you need an editable office file, pick a slide tool that exports to PowerPoint or Google Slides instead.
