How to use the Business Growth Skills Router agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The Business Growth Skills Router is an index skill for AI agents such as Claude. It reads a sales, customer-success or revenue request, decides which of four bundled business skills fits, and then lets the agent follow that skill's workflow. This guide explains what the router does, how to install it from a ZIP or the Claude apps, how to trigger it with natural requests, and what to check before relying on its output.

Quick start

  1. 1Download the ZIP. Get the Business Growth Skills Router ZIP from the directory page.
  2. 2Unzip into a skills folder. Unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
  3. 3Or upload in the Claude apps. Go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the ZIP.
  4. 4Check Python 3. Make sure Python 3 is available, since the sub-skills' scorer scripts need it.
  5. 5Ask a natural question. Describe the growth or revenue task in plain language, such as which accounts are at risk.
  6. 6Review the output. Check the routed skill's result, and have a person review any contract or deal draft.

What is an agent skill, and what does this router do?

An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file with instructions that an AI agent can load when a task matches the skill's description. This skill is the router for the four business and growth skills bundled in the claude-skills plugin.

The router itself ships no tools of its own. Its job is to match a request to one of four skills: customer-success-manager for health scoring, churn risk and expansion; sales-engineer for RFP analysis, competitive matrices and PoC planning; revenue-operations for pipeline, forecast accuracy and GTM efficiency; and contract-and-proposal-writer for proposals, contracts, statements of work and DPAs.

  • Account health and churn risk: customer-success-manager
  • RFP bids and competitive comparisons: sales-engineer
  • Pipeline coverage and forecast accuracy: revenue-operations
  • Proposals, contracts and SOWs: contract-and-proposal-writer

Install the Business Growth Skills Router skill

Option 1: download the ZIP from the directory page and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder to share it with one project.

Option 2: in the Claude apps, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the ZIP there.

  • Personal install: ~/.claude/skills/
  • Project install: .claude/skills/ inside your project folder
  • Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Trigger the skill with natural requests

You don't need to name the skill. Ask a growth or revenue question in plain language. The router is meant for requests that don't obviously match one skill, so phrasing like the examples below works well.

If several routing rows match your request, the router asks one clarifying question before it loads anything.

  • Which accounts are at risk of churning this quarter?
  • Should we bid on this RFP? Here is the requirements list.
  • Why is our forecast accuracy slipping, and where is pipeline thin?
  • Draft a statement of work for the pilot we discussed.

See how routing works in practice

After routing, the agent loads the chosen skill's SKILL.md from business-growth/skills/<skill>/ and follows its workflow. The router's own quick start shows the pattern: read the sub-skill's instructions, then run its helper script for metrics.

The example below is copied from the router's quick start. It reads the customer-success-manager instructions and shows the help text of its health score calculator.

cat business-growth/skills/customer-success-manager/SKILL.md python3 business-growth/skills/customer-success-manager/scripts/health_score_calculator.py --help

What the skill needs and what it does not do

The router requires Python 3 for the scorer scripts referenced in the sub-skills. The router itself does not run scripts and does not use the network.

The router's rules say to use the skills' Python scorers for metrics instead of manual estimates. Deal and contract outputs are drafts for human legal or commercial review, so a person must check them before anything is signed or sent.

  • Requires: Python 3 (for the sub-skills' scorer scripts)
  • Runs scripts: no (the router itself)
  • Uses network: no
  • Contract and deal outputs are drafts that need human review

Tips for getting good results

Give the agent specific data: account names, usage numbers, RFP requirement lists or pipeline stages. The routed skill can only work with what you provide.

If the agent picks the wrong skill, say so and name the one you want. The router is an index, so a clearer request usually routes correctly on the next try.

  • Include the context the sub-skill would need, such as the RFP text or the forecast period.
  • Ask for the metric by name, for example MAPE for forecast accuracy, since the router table lists it.
  • Treat contract and proposal text as a first draft.

What people use it for

  • Finding accounts with rising churn risk before a renewal cycle
  • Deciding whether a new RFP is worth bidding on, using the sales-engineer workflow
  • Checking why forecast accuracy is slipping and where pipeline coverage is thin
  • Drafting a proposal or statement of work as a starting point for legal review

Frequently asked questions

Is the Business Growth Skills Router free to use?

The skill is published under the MIT licence, as stated on its page. The source does not list prices for the Claude apps or any other service, so check those separately.

What do I need to install the business-growth-skills skill?

You need the skill ZIP from the directory page and either a ~/.claude/skills/ or project .claude/skills/ folder, or access to Settings → Capabilities → Skills in the Claude apps. Python 3 is needed for the sub-skills' scorer scripts.

Does the router run code or use the internet?

No. The source states that the router runs no scripts and uses no network. The sub-skills reference Python scorer scripts that you run as part of their workflows.

Can I use this skill for legal contract decisions?

No. The skill's outputs for contracts and deals are drafts for human legal or commercial review, so a qualified person needs to make the final decision.

How is this different from using the four sub-skills directly?

The router only picks the right skill for a request that doesn't obviously match one. If you already know which skill you need, you can ask for that skill's task directly.

Why does the agent ask me a question instead of answering?

When more than one routing row matches your request, the router asks one clarifying question first so it loads the correct skill. Answer it with the specific task you want.

Our verdict

Use this skill if you work in sales, customer success or revenue and aren't sure which bundled skill fits a request, or if you are evaluating how skills route to one another in the claude-skills plugin. Skip it if you want a finished legal decision or expect the router to run analysis itself, since it only points to other skills and ships no tools of its own.
