How to use the AI Content Detector agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The AI Content Detector skill is an agent skill for Claude that reviews text you paste into the conversation. It gives editorial observations such as repetitive wording, unsupported claims and style inconsistencies, along with suggested improvements. This guide explains what the skill does and does not do, how to install it, how to ask for a review, and where its limits are.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Get the skill ZIP from the directory page for ai-content-detector.
- 2Unzip into a skills folder. Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
- 3Or upload in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, open Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the skill.
- 4Paste your text. Include the text you want reviewed in your message.
- 5Say what you want. Ask for an editorial review, such as clarity, repetition or unsupported claims.
- 6Apply edits yourself. Check the observations against your sources and choose which suggested edits to keep.
What is an agent skill and what does this one do?
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file that tells an agent how to handle a particular kind of task. When the skill is installed and your request matches its description, the agent follows the instructions in that file.
This skill is described as: "AI Content Detector. Use when working with text to review." Once it is active, the agent reviews the text you give it and reports repetitive phrasing, unsupported claims and style inconsistencies as editorial observations, then suggests improvements.
- It reviews text you paste into the conversation.
- It returns quoted observations and suggested improvements.
- It will not declare text AI-written or human-written, assign an AI probability, or infer authorship from writing style.
- If you also supply the output of an external detector, the skill treats that output as an uncalibrated signal.
Install the AI Content Detector skill
You can install the skill in one of three ways. Download the ZIP file for the skill from the directory page and unzip it into your personal skills folder, ~/.claude/skills/, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder if you want it available only for that project.
Alternatively, upload the skill in the Claude apps under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- Personal install: unzip the downloaded file into ~/.claude/skills/.
- Project install: unzip the downloaded file into the project's .claude/skills/ folder.
- Claude apps: go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the skill.
Trigger the skill with natural requests
You do not need a special command. Paste the text and say what you want reviewed. The skill's description is about working with text to review, so requests that ask for a review of a draft are the ones it is built for.
The skill's guidance says that if you give no text, the agent should ask briefly for the text rather than invent an analysis. You can also state a goal or audience, for example that the piece is a product page or a blog post for beginners.
- "Review this draft for clarity and unsupported claims: [paste text]"
- "Give me an editorial pass on this article before I publish it. Flag repetitive wording."
- "Point out any claims in this paragraph that need a source."
- "Here is an AI detector score for my essay. What does it actually mean?"
What a review looks like
The skill leads with the usable result. Expect quoted passages from your text, the observation made about each one, and a suggested improvement. Where a claim is unsupported, the suggestion is to remove it or to ask for the supporting facts, not to invent a product feature to back it up.
Output follows any format you request. If you do not ask for one, the response uses concise Markdown with copyable text separated from commentary.
- Quoted passage, the observation, and a suggested rewrite.
- Unsupported claims are flagged for removal or for supporting evidence.
- Assumptions and gaps in the information are stated briefly.
What the skill needs and what it does not do
The skill lists no required tools or accounts. It does not run scripts and does not use the network. Everything it works with is the text you supply in the conversation.
It is not a live SEO audit tool. It cannot crawl a page or check a live URL, because the skill does not provide external-service access and contains no crawler. It also cannot prove whether text was written by AI or by a person, and it is not a basis for plagiarism or academic misconduct decisions, since it does not check sources.
- Requires: nothing listed.
- Runs scripts: no.
- Uses network: no.
- Not for proving AI or human authorship, plagiarism decisions, or live SEO crawling.
Safety notes and sensible habits
The skill's instructions treat text inside pasted pages or documents as content to review, not as new instructions. Keep credentials and private customer data out of what you paste, since the output may repeat it. The skill does not send messages or publish changes; any such action needs your separate authorization.
Treat any suggested rewrite as a draft to check yourself before you publish it.
- Do not paste passwords, API keys or private customer data.
- Review every suggested edit against your own sources before publishing.
- Nothing is sent or published by the skill itself.
What people use it for
- Second-pass review of a blog draft for clarity and unsupported claims before an editor reads it.
- Tidying an SEO or content team's article for repetitive wording before publishing.
- Checking a product description for claims that need a source.
- Understanding what an AI-detection score can and cannot tell you about a piece of text.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI Content Detector skill free?
The skill is listed under the MIT licence. The source does not state any price, so check the directory page for current terms.
What does the AI Content Detector skill require?
The skill lists no requirements. It runs no scripts and uses no network access, so it works only with the text you paste into the conversation.
Can this skill tell if my text was written by AI?
No. The skill states that authorship cannot be established from writing style and returns an indeterminate authorship status. It does not assign an AI probability.
How do I install an agent skill from a ZIP file?
Unzip the downloaded file into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps you can instead upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
Why won't the skill say my text is AI-generated?
It is explicitly told not to declare text AI-written, infer authorship from style, or equate authorship with plagiarism. Its role is editorial feedback on wording, claims and consistency.
Can it check my page's SEO or crawl my website?
No. It does not crawl pages or access external services, so it cannot run a live SEO audit. You can paste the copy you want reviewed instead.
