How to use the Advanced Analytics Dashboard agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The Advanced Analytics Dashboard skill is an agent skill that helps you decide which business metrics a KPI dashboard should track and records each one with its formula, source module, period, target, trend, owner and last-updated date. It is aimed at small business owners, operations or analytics staff, and developers who need a starter schema for metric definitions. After this guide you will know what an agent skill is, how to install this one, how to ask for it with natural requests, and what output to expect.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Download the skill ZIP from the skill page on this site.
- 2Unzip the skill folder. Unzip the file so the advanced-analytics-dashboard folder containing SKILL.md is available.
- 3Place it in a skills folder. Move the folder into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
- 4Or upload in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the ZIP.
- 5Describe your dashboard. Ask in plain language, for example that you want a KPI dashboard for your business metrics.
- 6Answer the follow-up questions. Answer the decision, data, metric and process questions, or say you do not know.
- 7Request the format you need. Ask for a CSV, SQL table, JSON Schema or Notion mapping when you are ready to build.
What is an agent skill?
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file that gives an AI agent specific instructions for a task. When the skill is installed, the agent can load those instructions when a request matches the skill's description.
This skill's SKILL.md file is the only file listed for it. It is licensed under MIT.
What the skill makes the agent do
The skill is a metric register. For each metric it helps you define the metric, its source module, formula or method, period, value, target, trend, owner and last-updated date.
By default the agent gives a short recommendation about the smallest useful setup rather than a spreadsheet. It starts with the decision the dashboard supports and adds one metric per part of that decision. When you ask, it produces templates: a CSV file, a SQL table definition, a JSON Schema, or a Notion import mapping.
It leaves values empty unless you supply them. It does not train or run predictive models.
- Metric definitions with formula, source, period, target, trend, owner and last-updated fields
- CSV, SQL DDL, JSON Schema or Notion mapping on request
- Empty templates by default; no invented values
How to install the skill
Download the ZIP from the skill page on this site and unzip it. Then place the skill folder in one of these locations:
- Personal: ~/.claude/skills/
- Single project: the .claude/skills/ folder inside your project
- Claude apps: upload the ZIP under Settings → Capabilities → Skills
How to trigger the skill with natural requests
You do not need a special command. Describe what you want in plain language. The skill's description and trigger phrases include KPI dashboards, kpi dashboard template, business metrics dashboard and analytics dashboard. You can also say you want to set up a dashboard, that your process is in a sheet, or ask for an audit of an existing metric list.
The agent will ask only for missing facts that would change the output, such as the decision the dashboard supports, the data sources, and the metrics. If you do not know an answer, say so and the agent will record it as unknown.
- "Set up a KPI dashboard for my bakery's weekly sales and costs."
- "Our process is in a spreadsheet. Turn it into a metric register."
- "Give me the metric definitions as a CSV template."
- "Create a SQL table for storing metric definitions."
- "Is this metric list right? Review it for me."
What you get back
Without a request for files, expect a short recommendation and an offer of the relevant artifact. When you ask for a build, the agent emits the requested formats. The CSV uses UTF-8 with a byte order mark so Excel opens it correctly. A CSV is not an .xlsx workbook; the skill creates a workbook only if you ask for one. Because CSV has no data types, the agent names the columns that need number, date or currency formatting.
For Notion, the skill hands the import steps to a separate notion-manual-import step, so the Notion mapping is not defined inside this skill.
CREATE TABLE advanced_analytics_dashboard (
metric VARCHAR(255),
category VARCHAR(100),
source_module VARCHAR(255),
formula_or_method VARCHAR(255),
period VARCHAR(255),
value NUMERIC,
target NUMERIC,
trend VARCHAR(255),
owner VARCHAR(255),
last_updated DATE,
metric_id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY,
created_at TIMESTAMP DEFAULT NOW(),
updated_at TIMESTAMP DEFAULT NOW()
);What the skill needs and safety notes
The skill lists no requirements. It does not run scripts and does not use the network. For Notion, the skill says it never asks for a Notion password or token, and that a manual CSV and mapping need no connection.
Do not paste sensitive financial data into the chat for review. The skill notes that supplied data is processed transiently by the host, so it asks you to minimise what you share.
- Runs scripts: no
- Uses network: no
- Requires: nothing listed
- Do not use for payroll calculation, tax filing or legal advice
Tips for better results
Start with the decision you want to support. The skill treats metric sprawl as the usual cause of failed dashboards, so fewer, clearly defined metrics work better than many loosely defined ones.
Give targets only when you have them. The skill shows targets only when supplied and treats missing values as unknown, not zero.
- Name the decision and who makes it before listing metrics
- Use the same field list for every artifact to avoid mismatches
- Ask for a review if you already have a metric list
What people use it for
- A small business owner defining a simple KPI tracker with clear formulas and owners
- An operations team writing a metric register before choosing a dashboard tool
- A developer generating a starter SQL table or JSON Schema for storing metric definitions
- An analyst preparing a CSV template that can be imported into Notion
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install anything else to use this skill?
The skill lists no requirements, runs no scripts and uses no network. You place the skill folder in a skills location and the agent can use the instructions from SKILL.md.
Is the Advanced Analytics Dashboard skill free?
The skill is licensed under MIT. Check the skill page on this site for any other terms of use before you rely on it.
Does the skill create a working dashboard for me?
It helps define the metrics and produces templates such as CSV, SQL, JSON Schema or a Notion mapping. It leaves values empty unless you supply them, so you still connect the output to your own dashboard tool.
Can it forecast sales or run predictive models?
No. The skill does not train or run predictive models and only documents metrics and their definitions.
Can I use it for payroll or tax questions?
No. The skill explicitly excludes payroll calculation, tax filing and legal advice.
Is it safe to paste my financial data into the chat?
Be cautious. The skill notes that supplied data is processed transiently by the host, so share only what is needed for the review.
Why does the CSV not open as a spreadsheet with formatting?
A CSV carries no data types. The skill uses UTF-8 with a byte order mark for Excel and names the columns that need number, date or currency formats. It creates an .xlsx workbook only when you ask for one.

Our verdict
This skill suits small business owners who want a simple KPI tracker with clear metric definitions, operations or analytics staff setting up a metric register, and developers who need a starter schema. Pick a different tool if you need forecasting or predictive modelling, or help with payroll, tax or legal questions, which the skill excludes.
